Liphook Sainsburys
- Kevin (23rd Sep 2018 - 14:09:53)

Has anyone else noticed how poorly stocked Liphook Sainsburys is recently? We have started going to Tesco to get what was is Sainsburys used to have.?

It is dreadful! No fresh food stocked and never enough tills open. I go out of the village to shop now. Whats more annoying is that other Sainsburys are really good, its just Liphook that is shocking.

- Sarah (24th Sep 2018 - 21:06:36)

I agree. They are often out of basic things for days on end.

At the moment they only seem to have 4 tills open at a time.

There must be something going on, but I don’t understand what! It feels like it’s been abandoned by Sainsbury’s Head Office and run into the ground slightly.

Went in late last week and there was plenty of rubbish / litter on the entrance floor and my basket had a grubby sticky handle. Small things but did give a bad first impression.
Shop probably on par with rest of Liphook which does look a bit tired, dated and scruffy when compared to more affluent areas.

- Gr (25th Sep 2018 - 07:11:40)

What has happened to the basket only checkout

I refuse to use self service i will not do sainsburys job for them

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- J (25th Sep 2018 - 13:02:50)

Crikey Gr, do you also refuse to get your own items from the shelves? It’s shocking that times have changed since the days of shop assistants doing all the fetching from behind a counter! ;-)

- Andrew (25th Sep 2018 - 13:56:52)

Well I do know that they are having some issues in some places but they have been addressed and are now sorted if you can do better Kevin come and join us

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- MJB (25th Sep 2018 - 16:19:48)

visited Sainsburys today and only three checkouts were open with long queues of customers .I asked a member of staff why the basket only till had vanished and was told it was an instruction from head office! What a shower.

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- GR (25th Sep 2018 - 16:40:13)

I can just about take items off the shelf even though hands do not work properly but when companies make big profits and put in self check outs makes my blood boil

another worker given the sack because of automation

Do I get a discount for doing the shops job ?

Would you be happy being told we don't need you anymore a robot / automation is doing your job ?

Its a sad day when we have no shopkeepers just fully auto supermarkets one brand all the same where's the personal service gone

oh yeah share holder divys that,s what counts these days

Only if u know what sainsbury staff had to put up with I am surprise their got any staff at all . Head office need to put the staff first.

I do have relations work for them 30 plus years

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Ian (26th Sep 2018 - 08:06:44)

I actually find the self checkouts normally quite efficient. Clearly though Sainsburys in Liphook has some issues at the moment and it's difficult to know who to blame, could be central management policy, local management incompetence or (as I have heard rumours of) shop floor work to rule/go slow.

Absolutely legitimate to express these complaints on this forum although some (gr) utterly bizarre. However head office needs to be bombarded with written complaints to get things improved

I went to Sainsburys at Waterlooville last Saturday morning and it was a pleasure to shop. Full shelves, I went to the fresh meat counter and a very pleasant young man served me and I got just what I wanted. All the checkouts were working and despite the fact it's a large store, I got through very quickly. Of course, the added bonus was the petrol was 9p.a litre cheaper. It's worth the drive believe you me !!

Poor management by the sound of it.

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Gill (28th Sep 2018 - 16:46:07)

I couldn’t agree more the service and products have been slowly on an ever increasing decline...what happened to the days when you could request products...compared to other Sainsbury’s it’s the worst I’ve been in...

Just been in sainsbury it isn't as bad as people make it out to be

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Mandi (29th Sep 2018 - 17:18:40)

I agree with ginny i go to waterlooville to shop and sainsburys petrol is 121 much cheaper than liphook.

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Paul (30th Sep 2018 - 10:34:00)

From what I see daily is staff all working hard, and are pleasant and helpful to customers.
The manning of tills could be lack of staff of local people willing to work there.
As for empty shelves it must be a supply and logistics issue.
The problem is higher up in the chain, not at the store level that are given what has been sent.

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Roger (30th Sep 2018 - 16:47:04)

Well I experienced Sainsburys today a first in a while and would agree with the percentage of those who've commented.

I'd imagine you'd find fuller shelves and a less stressful shopping experience in Aleppo.

As we all know until there's some competition Sainsburys will continue to provide second class service

Re: Liphook Sainsburys

That's a shocking comparison Roger. You haven't got a clue

Did anyone see the congestion on Sunday worse than over Christmas. Queuing 3 to 4 trolleys deep and not all cash desks open.

- James (2nd Oct 2018 - 17:57:18)

Let's hope they close down and then....
We get a Waitrose .
They are loads better

Saimsbusys is shocking

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- oldie (2nd Oct 2018 - 21:20:39)

Great news folks.

I went in there tonight and they had food! Lots of it too, aisle after aisle, milk, bread, eggs, you name it! Get down there, nobody was rude and although I haven't been in for a while and not experienced the stuff others have, I felt it was all pretty normal. Maybe the worst is over?

Re: Liphook Sainsburys

An over-inflated sense of entitlement is often apparent on local forums like this and this particular thread really does highlight this

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Mandi (4th Oct 2018 - 18:40:49)

Well the petrol is cheaper today at 129 shame they cant get down to 121 the same as their waterlooville store!!!

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Rachael (4th Oct 2018 - 21:12:01)

Mandi - property prices and rents are also cheaper in Waterlooville, there’s a solution for you!

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Ali (5th Oct 2018 - 06:10:06)

Agree with you there mandy.its okay for shopping and petrol but i wouldn't live there.i think you are missing the point racheal,we want cheaper petrol.if some sainsburys can sell it at a reasonable price why cant others.I shall be filling up at sainsburys today if its a little lower .

Re: Liphook Sainsburys
- Simon (5th Oct 2018 - 09:40:59)

Strongly disagree with you rach! Properties arent that cheap in ville.I moved from there 4 months ago and,pay the same price rent for a 2 bedroom in liphook as i did down there.
