Bohunt - latest Ofsted reprt downgraded - Dave B (12th Jun 2024 - 18:01:59) Interesting to see the spin that Bohunt have produced about the latest assessment (which our politicians would be proud of). Bohunt is no longer "Outstanding" rated. However, "Good" is still good but the spin is in poor taste and highlights Strowgers arrogance.

As the letter says, OFSTED have been trying to remove outstandings everywhere - there are only 2 left in Hampshire, and one of them is one of 'Strowger's other schools! Your post is deeply disrespectful of a school and a head trying to do a really tough job - and clearly doing an amazing job, from the report!

We are very lucky to have a great school in our village and I am proud that both of my children have attended there. I currently have one in year 11 and one in year 13. My year 11 has chosen to stay on for the sixth form. No school is perfect, whether state or independent, large or small.To gain an overall outstanding from Ofsted these days is virtually impossible and Bohunt have done exceedingly well to gain 24/26 outstanding characteristics, and only two 'goods'. Of course there will be plenty of people who disagree with this and will complain about various matters, their experiences there etc, but there will be far more people who will happily celebrate the school, it's pupils and the very hard working staff. Well done Bohunt! Have a thought for the children in the village and surrounding areas due to move to Bohunt in September and the current pupils and staff.

Re: Bohunt - latest Ofsted reprt downgraded - Paul2 (13th Jun 2024 - 10:05:12) As someone who has been peer reviewed (for clinical services) more times than I've had hot dinners, I would say being one notch down from the top is the best place to be. Getting 'outstanding' means there's only one way to go - down. On the whim of a reviewer, over a policy document, over one minor blip. On the other hand, being 'good' means you are good - and the only way is up. And you try harder.

I don't mind or object to you disagreeing with me but don't try and restrict my freedom of speech. And for the record, I have emailed Strowger. I have had two children go to Bohunt, 10 years apart and in my opinion, the school whilst still better than average is not as good as it was....despite the PR spin being presented here; bohunt.hants.sch.uk/news-media/bohunt-praised-by-ofsted-as-exceptional

You could always excercise another freedom and send your kids to another local school such as Oakmoor. I'm guessing you won't.

Re: Bohunt - latest Ofsted reprt downgraded - Jen (14th Jun 2024 - 10:22:09) Well, I clicked on the link supplied by Dave B and I don't see "spin" there. Naturally, the school will want to highlight all the things in which it is doing well and in which it received very favourable and glowing comments from the inspectors. I don't see that as being spin. If the school had been graded as inadequate or needing special improvement measures, then I could understand Dave B's consternation. But it hasn't! It's been rated "good" overall and some sections/departments have been rated "outstanding". It doesn't get much better than that, surely? If I were on the management team, I would be very pleased with the results of the inspection. Clearly, there must be one or two things that have scope for improvement, otherwise the overall rating would have been "outstanding", but they are not major deficits. If there had been any major flaws the school would not have been rated as "good".

I do not agree with them but I am delighted that you are able to express them. @ GR, clearly you do not understand but again I respect your right to express your opinion. If you read the Ofsted report you will see that unfortunately there are "significant" numbers of parents who are dissatisfied at some of the systems and processes in place to help children that struggle in Bohunt. It would be nice for the school to acknowledge these failings and communicate how they will improve. This appears to be the main reason the school has dropped from Outstanding to Good.
