Broadband problems - any suggestions?
- Local Resident (1st Dec 2022 - 16:03:58)

Hello folks

In recent weeks my broadband has become endlessly spotty - it drops in and out all day long. Having been fine for years.

Any advice?

Liphook seems full of Open Reach vans. I wondered if the two things might be connected...? This is probably a silly thought.

FYI - I have no idea how any of this works - I turn on my computer, the cricket commentary comes out of the speakers, don't ask my how/why/where any of it comes from. So if you have any suggestions, keep them simple please!

My broadband is with Vodafone and I live in the centre of the village.

506-4. Bosh...!

First of all can you confirm if your computer is connected by a cable to the router or is it connected by wifi ?

Have you tried re-booting the router ?

We are with Vodafone and had the same issue. Our issue was very persistent and continued for a few months. After a while we decided to call Vodafone (be persistent) they ran a few tests and told us it was fixed, it wasn’t. I called them back and they sent an OpenReach engineer to fix the issue.

My advice is to give them a call, be persistent, and if it continues ask for an engineer to fix it.

Agreed, be persistent, not all or indeed many issues with your internet connection is due to this ISP v that ISP, the copper into your house, the plug, the router and even localised interference on WiFi all play a major part.

ISP wise insist they check for faults on the line . Then start at the telephone socket and work your way back, it just takes one dodgy cable,

ISP tend to only differ in customer service levels, the speed you get is determined by the product and your exact location from exchange if your on ADSL VDSL, only full fiber beats the location problem
