Lockdown
- AF (1st May 2021 - 15:29:42)

With no COVID deaths in Hampshire last month it's finally time to end this lockdown madness.

We need to regain our FREEDOM.

I know that the Liphook community forum is incredibly popular with the policy and law makers of this great United Kingdom, so they’ll no doubt be reading your post. However just to be sure your views are heard, perhaps emailing your local MP Damian Hinds directly might prove better use of your time.

From 12th April

Meeting friends and family outdoors (rule of 6)
You can meet up outdoors with friends and family you do not live with, either:

in a group of up to 6 from any number of households (children of all ages count towards the limit of 6)

in a group of any size from up to two households (each household can include an existing support bubble, if eligible)

yes Adrian, let’s recklessly ditch common sense and self restraint and look forward to lockdown no.4 this summer!

It’s almost as if lockdowns, social distancing, extra hygiene measures and vaccinations actually might work and bring the infection rates down…

Let’s just stick with the gradual relaxation program and hope that it works for the long term!

Well said JB

Re: Lockdown
- AF (2nd May 2021 - 14:13:29)

There will not be a 4th lockdown this year because the only reason for lockdowns was to reduce the pressure on the NHS and them getting overwhelmed with COVID patients, and of the people likely to be affected with COVID to the extent of needing to go to hospital 99% of them have been vaccinated.
Now i know that some of you will say the vaccine is not 100% which is correct but it has been found that even if you get the virus after vaccination which is rare the symptoms are less severe meaning hospital treatment is unnecessary.
I do think the chances of an third or fourth wave of infections is a distinct possibility due to the extra mixing among young people and the resistance of a fair proportion of young people to the vaccines and of course under 18's don't get the vaccine. But young people don't get severe symptoms so it doesn't matter.
We will under current schemes be fully free in June but i truly feel this is ultra cautious and we should be given our freedom now.
I can assure you I'm looking forward to ditching the masks, walking in any direction down shop aisles, sitting next to a total stranger in a train or theatre.

It's reassuring to know you're standing with us in the good times AF.

Re: Lockdown
- er (2nd May 2021 - 16:25:14)

We all want to see this finished too, am I correct in thinking a lot of things open up more next week, tbh I can't keep up so I don't blame other people for getting confused like me, but let's stand firm a little longer as we see this through till the government medical advisers say time, don't forget what's happening right now in India, Brazil etc, there is reason in the madness.

They are currently trialling things like live sports, packed music concerts, if the results go well, we'll soon be set free, but it will only take some poor figured in that time to scupper all the good work, I know it's been a long time but patience especially after all this we've been through, near the end now we don't want to rush it (I know the PM doesn't read this but I think he's done ok ish!)

Heaven help that poor stranger who does end up having to sit next to you on a train or at the theatre AF.....
