As the ASAP shop is shut and no answer over the phone, any suggestions where to get parts for car locally?

Eurocarparts in Haslemere. ASAP is permanently closed I believe.

I get all my motoring needs off eBay these days. Quicker and easier. We used to have many auto factors round here years ago but as vehicles became harder for the home mechanic to maintain they gradually disappeared.

Both online shopping and the DIY-unfriendly designs had the potential to make the consumers' lives easier. So far both are to our detriment.
Disposable sealed units are more expensive for the consumer and the environment. Car computers are designed to fail. Generally appliances are increasingly manufactured with inbuilt redundancy.
Online shopping is increasingly more cumbersome to register, keep safe and log-into. Post-purchase care is a very sad joke.
So far, we are worse off.

Of the hundreds of online purchases I've made, I've only had two or three bad experiences. A very small number compared to the amount of duff items I used to return to our local auto factor. That's if they could get them in the first place.

Showing my ignorance now, what became of the premises formerly known as Camberly Auto Factors? I remember it being taken over by Andrew Page?

I’m guessing it is empty at the moment. I saw a tweet from a company that had been called in to take away all the stock and clean the site.

Andrews was bought out by Eurocarparts about two years ago.
