Emergency vehicles access at Silent Garden
- Dave (20th Feb 2021 - 19:54:56)

So depressing walking around Silent Garden to see the selfishness (or ignorance or stupidity) of the individual who thought it is acceptable to park their Range Rover across the emergency vehicle access to the estate from The Firs!!!! Okay, so the risk is very small but just supposing there was an incident where the access was needed and people died because the emergency services could not easily gain access. I guess people will be dismissive until a worse case scenario happens when the bodies will then be counted

Only a Range Rover Driver would pull such a stunt. They are just a breed!!

Not just Range Rover in this particular location!

It's the norm at Chiltlee Manor. Cars dumped at access points, blocking garages, destroying the grass. The estate management and the council are turning a blind eye.

totally blocked this morning by two cars, not even enough room for a pushchair let alone emergency vehicles. Range Rover again plus another. Ignorance!

Clamp them or let tyre down

P clamping them will not solve the issue, it just means cars will be blocking the access point for longer.

If you clamp them then order recovery lorry and give them the bill soon stop them

I walked past there the other day and didn’t spot any signage to say that it’s emergency vehicle access. The bollards don’t look very quick to remove either if access was required. Not defending daft parking, but perhaps it should be more obvious that it’s for emergency access if indeed that is what it is designed for.

I think the route to be taken depends on wether the area in question is a public highway or private land?
If it's a public highway then some form of parking restriction (yellow lines?) could be installed.
If it's private land then your only option is to get in touch with the land owner and try and arrange some form of parking restrictions to be put in place (the dreaded "Parking Enforcers" with clamps and fine of £100s for release).
I don't know for sure but is Silent Garden under a management company, who the residents all pay for, and who is responsible for the estates roads, open spaces and parking areas? Or are the roads council maintained?

Radian are partially responsible I think as the offenders are social housing types
