Wanted: Stone carving kit
- Bush (20th Oct 2020 - 08:57:02)
My cousin is in search of affordable second hand stone carving tools or a set for beginners. Mallet, chisels (clawed and flat) and rasps.
Kind thanks.

Hi,
I am sorry I cannot help directly but just offer a couple of ideas:
1) My first stop would be to car boots. Even if tool you buy there do not work, you will learn from them.
2) Funeral directors. These people will have a good few stone mason they use, and may be able to tell you of some that are retiring and thus wishing to dispose of equipment.
3) Fossil Hunting. There is a wealth of sites and advice plus a range of tools both brutal and delicate.
4) Portland Museum. With a focus on the stone, quarried and fashioned for hundreds of years...the tools use will give you ideas.
Regards
