New Railway Bridge
- AF (19th Oct 2020 - 21:46:32)

Well I've seen a letter from Network Rail saying the new footbridge for the station will be starting soon and surprisingly will have a lift,
This is good news but it will take 11 months to complete.
Could the Network Rail hire some Chinese workers they were able to build a Hospital in 2 days.
I am not a civil engineer but 11 months seems excessive, maybe it's being built by one man on his own.(Or woman don't want to be accused of sexism).

I wish we could persuade them to build up the platform for a small area at front of the London-bound trains.

I have a slight problem with mobility and have to travel from Haslemere because I just can’t manage the height of the step up on to London bound trains. It must be height of about 18 - 24 inches, and I just can’t manage it. I can’t be the only person who finds it difficult to negotiate the step.

The time to be taken does not seem excessive, when one takes into account the fact that a good part of the work can only be carried out when the line is closed. This is because train safety takes precedence over speed of constructuion.

Perhaps the origional poster would like to suspend trains for a two week period for the bridge to be constructed in safety! I can imagine the howls of protest from the rail users, both here and up and down the line.

No one can stop you using your privately owned land. They can request permission from you to use your car park, I would consult a lawyer.
