Postcard collectors
- Eb (14th Sep 2020 - 11:43:07)

Are there any collectors around or anyone that could point me in the right direction. I have a fairly large collection of my Aunts that I need to find a new home for, I think there's at least 6 large albums. Anyone wishing to take a look or know where I could take them, please get in touch on 0740 274 8819 thanks

Ordinarily I would recommend taking your albums along to one of the monthly meetings of the Surrey Postcard Fair held in Guildford but, due to coronavirus pandemic, all their meetings have been cancelled for the rest of the year.

However you could try contacting the organisers who may be able to recommend a local dealer / collector who could help you.

I hope this helps.

What subject matter and what era? Most collectors want a particular subject or time period etc, postcards are generally not very valuable as there were so many issued even as far back as Edwardian times when they became popular (in cities you could post one at 8am inviting a friend to lunch that day, they'd have time to receive it and post a reply saying they were coming!), obviously a few very early ones can be valuable, also ones with close ups of people or transport in authentic period scenes, or something else popular at the moment (fads if you like), but the general views of holiday scenes don't tend to be worth much (pennies). Best of luck though.

Thanks Paul I shall contact them, my aunt spent many hours at the Woking one, that's where I would have tried.
Er thanks these are not holiday postcards I know some will be worth pennies but others she paid a fair bit more for. I will be getting them from storage at the weekend, I basically wanted them to go to someone that had an interest in them and would get some enjoyment from them rather than sell them as I don't have the heart to throw them out :(

hello
I am a private collector of postcards covering Liphook/Bramshott/ Passfield/Conford etc.
If they are a varied subject matter I could let you have contact details of a dealer in Haslemere.

Thanks Ron, I have just spoken to him as somebody else kindly recommended him and gave me his number.
Many thanks to everyone for your help, hopefully I'm now sorted.
