Charity Shop Donations
- Tanya Wilkinson (29th Jun 2020 - 19:46:34)
Following from my post yesterday, with regards to some volunteers not yet being able to return to help in the shop, due to some having health conditions that put them at risk from Corona Virus/Covid 19. I was deeply saddened today to turn up at the shop to find I couldnt even open the door due to 10 bags being left in the doorway, despite a polite notice asking for donations not to be left outside. All the ppe (gloves and sanitisers in the shop) I had to take the risk to move them, I am just so glad that this was me taking the risk and not my wonderful volunteers. Sadly due to the virus we are very limited on taking donations, due to space, every sealed bag has to be quarantined for a minimum of 72hrs before we can sort through them, this means we have to set aside space to quarantine which is not easy in such a small shop. This is why we can only take donations 4 days a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, ) so we can work a rotation on our 2 quarantine bays. We limit this to 2 bags per person until we reach 30 bags (again space is limiting us here) just so we can try and spread the love and take something from most people, So I ask PLEASE do not leave donations outside and put my volunteers at risk, and Please be patient if we get to capacity and are unable to take your donation ( we will tell you when the best time or next available day for donations will be)
Many Many thanks
Tanya
