Bordon Recycling Centre
- MA (20th May 2020 - 17:47:49)

Just to let everyone know: the queue is still very long and slow. I’ve checked today. Drove to Station Rd, parked nearby and went to the Centre at about 2pm. Station Rd is closed at the entrance to the Centre, the cars are queueing from the West. You are not allowed to bring anything if you are on foot. Cars are let in one by one. I guess that’s why it’s so slow. They have the full number of containers in place (unlike a week ago), most for garden waste. I’ve asked a person in the the front of the queue how long he’s been waiting. Two hours!

Same at Petersfield at 1pm today. About 40 cars waiting, queue not moving in the 5 minutes before I bailed out and went home. Not good for the environment.

Thanks for the info on the queues at Bordon and Petersfield tips. I was hoping they would be less busy by now- it seems a lot of others were thinking the same. The thought of spending two hours in a car full of rotting garden waste makes self-isolating feel like a much better option

This situation is not going to change anytime soon so people will have to bite the bullet and be prepared for a long wait.
Be prepared and take some drinks and snacks to keep you going and a good book or some downloaded content on your tablet. You will probably have enough time to watch a film. Of course use the loo before you leave home.

@MikeT - Why not make a compost heap in your garden?

Dave

Compost heap was already full before lockdown- when does a compost molehill become a compost mountain?

Has anyone attempted Bordon tip in recent days?

I was wondering if I would have to allow several hours if I decided to visit??

TIA for any update/info

We went yesterday, arriving at 11.50, and had to queue for an hour. Not as bad as we feared. Station Rd is still closed at the entrance to the recycling centre so you have to approach and queue from the Oakhanger end (west).

Many thanks Becky
