Country Wide Car Park
- Joe (5th Feb 2020 @ 11:21:41)

Does anyone know the reasoning behind the red and white tape blocking the old country wide car park entrance?

Re: Country Wide Car Park
- Ann (5th Feb 2020 @ 14:14:47)

Maybe to stop people parking in there when they use the train!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Country Wide Car Park
- John (5th Feb 2020 @ 14:23:42)

Perhaps they want to deter the commuters parking for free all day?

Re: Country Wide Car Park
- Joe (5th Feb 2020 @ 15:38:53)

Ironically... they do not own any of the car park spaces...

Presumably because the owners want to stop people parking in there as it is private property. Joe if you are sure Countrywide do not own the car park do you know who does? If they don't I assume the freeholder owns it. In any event EHDC do not own it so the car park is private property and should not be used by members of the public without permission.

I’ve just been informed it’s the BeautiPod blocking access who definitely do not lease or own any of the parking spaces. They therefore do not have a right to do this.

I know it was previously used by countrywide customers which was a leased property. I’m not aware of who owns the freehold.

At least it stops people parking outside your house!

Joe you are obviously determined to park there, you could search land registry online to find out who owns the freehold. Even if Countrywide still own a long term lease of the land / building then they would be the people to ask if you can park there.

If I remember rightly was always for Countrywide Customers only - so presumably who ever holds the lease for Coubtrywide building is the owner & therefore is private land so beauty pod should not be blocking access - but by rights as no customers for Countrywide it being closed should not be used by anyone thinking they can just park there - rather like squatting really!

Re: Country Wide Car Park

As beauty pod are part of the country wide building i would think that they have a lease which gives them parking rights. And as country wide have closed beauty pod are on site custodians and I would think have every right to police the park.

Also presuming the people who occupy the flats upstairs drive, they also have rights to park in the car park

Seriously can’t believe people are having an issue over cars parking in an empty car park !!! Maybe people need to get out more .... and park in country wide and make the most of the free parking 😂

Re: Country Wide Car Park
- Wendy (6th Feb 2020 @ 17:00:08)

Could not agree more with space invader!!

Re: Country Wide Car Park
- Debbie (6th Feb 2020 @ 18:24:50)

If the Beauty Pod does have use of the car park for its customers included in the lease of the building I can quite understand how annoying it would be for them and their customers if they can't park there because it is full of commuters leaving their cars there all day. On the plus side I have noticed there's been fewer cars parking on the Portsmouth Road.

- KW (13th Feb 2020 @ 22:29:18)

Beauty Pod actually pay for their car park spaces, so they're the ones that have probably cordoned off the car park. If you're that bothered, commute from another station!
