Delayed 8.21 Train
- Nicky (11th Sep 2019 - 08:23:22)
A modern day problem I know ....but I thought I would ask why the 8.21 has been delayed and expected at a new time of 8.28 day after day this week. The answer....... because the council no longer provides buses for Bohunt children there are literally hundreds coming in on this train. The train company only allows a couple of minutes for the train to open its doors, passengers to disembark & others to get on and the doors to close. This isn’t possible with this many children. This is now causing knock on havoc as the fast train at Haslemere has to be held waiting for the delayed 8.21. The delays then just continue as a result. I’m not sure what the answer is but something needs to give! Maybe the train timetable????

SW Railway agreed to this and said it would be fine but anyone with half a brain cell could see there may be an issues.
Regrettably, SW Railway don't have half a brain cell and therefore another issue we all have to live with until they lose the franchise.

You make a good point. Being pedantic, I think the fast train is behind it and “overtakes” that train at Haslemere, scheduled to leave Haslemere at 8.32 so probably leaves a couple of minutes late - However the excessive padding that has built up over the years on the schedule (to help the train companies meet their targets) means it probably catches up by Worplesdon !
I quite often get that train when I’m doing a late start in London (aka “half a day for ladies” according to my inappropriate mate Randolf).
Love seeing the Bohunt crew get off at Liphook, loads of energy and banter.
Have a great rest of the week !
Cheers, Finchie
