dozens of kittens - Viv (13th Nov 2018 - 11:06:27)
I did write about this a while back. There is a lady in the Mead who doesn't believe in neutering or spaying her cats. I actually have spoken to her she used to live near my old address. Someone kindly responded with her address which of course was blocked. There have been numerous kittens roaming around Hanover court and The Mead. All starving and not neutered. Referring to the above post I have heard from a couple of reliable sources that people are so fed up with these kittens that rat poison is being put down. This is a horrible death for an animal. I have tried the RSPCA but they need to know where this person lives so they can go and see her and possibly offer to get her cats neutered. No is 03001234999 RSPCA . This has got to be stopped. There are so many we no longer have birds coming to feed at Hanover.

May I suggest that you collect the kittens into carriers and take them to the Cats Protection in Haslemere for re-homing.

Hi
There was a post on here about 2 dogs being poisoned in The Mead.
I hope Karma repays them 10 fold.

It is totally irresponsible to let your cats breed exponentially.
Especially if you are letting them starve.
Outrageous in this day and age.
Suggest collecting them up in crates - which should be quite easy if they are hungry and taking them off to the Cats Protection League. Or, even calling them to see if they can come.
Letting them turn feral isn't any kindness at all.

What sort of person tries to solve a problem of starving stray cats by putting down Rat poison? Seems a very heartless solution. Thanks to the other posters who came up with humane solutions.

I totally agree but is anything being done for these kittens and about also contacting the person who is causing the problem in the first place by not having her cats spayed?

I'm happy to treck down and get some rounded up, but don't know where they are all hanging out.
Will the O.P. assist?

Dawn happy to help you. Does anyone know the owner? Can we approach and suggest help and neutering given the situation with poisoning? She may not be aware of the wider impact.

So wouldn't it be a good idea to make sure these kittens don't actually belong to someone before gathering them up and taking them away? You can't just rely on someone on here saying the word stray and then assuming they are. Phone Cats Protection or the RSPCA. is be pretty annoyed if someone gathered up my kittens and took them away!

I think that if a kitten is not looked after it can soon be seen, also surely a small kitten is not allowed to just freely roam until of a certain size, if it has a responsible owner?
Re: dozens of kittens - Viv (19th Nov 2018 - 13:50:40)
Thank you for all the response about this. Unfortunately the kittens are old enough to have left their mother and are all roaming around on their own. Obviously not used to human contact so when approached they just run.
I should have been specific and said VERY young cats.
So sorry to hear about the dogs. We are suddenly seeing less cats. I hope the poison hasn't got to them.
There is only one person who knows where this lady lives. If she phones the RSPCA and hands over to them, She needn't worry about getting involved .

Viv, yes it is appaling that rat poison has killed the dogs in the Mead.
How anyone could even think to control animals by causing them a long agonising death is hideous.
