Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Adrian (5th Oct 2018 - 04:19:38)

Can someone please explain to the managers at Sainsburys that bannanas are meant to be YELLOW not green, whenever i go in there the only yellow bannanas are the ones in the photo behind the fruit, all the ones for sale are green.
Now i know you can take them home and in 3-5 days they will ripen up but when i go in i want to buy 1-2 to eat that day and green ones are hard and unpleasant.

- Marg Irina (5th Oct 2018 - 07:36:53)

That’s disgraceful. There is also lots of bent ones.

Wow just wow

In a world where clean running water is a luxury
Bananas!!

Reasons to be grateful?

Option to shop for bananas

Reasons to be grateful?

Affording bananas

Not being bombed

Option to select another store another fruit

Be grateful for the little things people

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Isn (5th Oct 2018 - 08:27:45)

No worries Adrian, I am sure they will ripen up whilst you’re waiting for the late running trains!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Anon (5th Oct 2018 - 08:54:38)

As Sainsburys has been in the spotlight on a couple of threads on talkback perhaps you suggest they should put their bananas under the spotlight to ripen them. A lot of comments on here are extremely comical and basically are people with nothing more to do than watch paint dry so it seems.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- wendy (5th Oct 2018 - 09:40:50)

Quite right Lizzie, people seem to have it in for Sainsburys at the moment,Actually it's getting really boring on here, all they talk about is dog poo and Sainsburys, Got to be more in their lives than this?? think about all the suffering that is going on abroad, and thank God it isn't you

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Drew (5th Oct 2018 - 10:34:32)

Despicable .....Minions love yellow Ban na na na na na

Well said Wendy. I totally agree. Xx.

- Helen Windybottom (5th Oct 2018 - 12:26:03)

Sainsbury’s don’t sell Bannanas. They sell Bananas.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Phil (5th Oct 2018 - 14:03:52)

Exactly wendy they obviously have sad lives and nothing else better to do than worryabout bananas.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Cyril Lord (5th Oct 2018 - 14:56:52)

I agree with the bananas bad speller. I too prefer my bananas yellow. Not too big and with uniform bend. I don’t like the green ones as I find them very hard to open and peel. Bruised speckled skin i don’t like.
Lots of good comments on here. It’s important we hear views on these important things that effect us all.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Rölli (5th Oct 2018 - 15:37:40)

Banana skins comes to mind Adrian, be careful now!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Paul (8th Oct 2018 - 06:07:46)

Hi, It is best not to buy many green ones to ripen, as you dont know how long you are going to live.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Tracey (8th Oct 2018 - 11:05:23)

I really like the green ones. I got to go home early from work with stomach ache. Had a lovely time shoe shopping.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- banana lover (8th Oct 2018 - 14:32:43)

I like a still green banana... yellow ones aren't my bag.

Just saying.

Re: Sainsburys - Bananas
- Louis Roleman (16th Oct 2018 - 15:21:28)

Went in today and there are still no yellow Bananas. Plus no custard pies again early Saturday evening. Still no McCain frozen Roast Potatoes. It’s all Aunt Bessie’s flavoured yuck. Ruff necks of Liphook perhaps prefer the cheaper Aunt Bessie’s

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- gr (16th Oct 2018 - 19:36:36)

Green ones will turn yellow they are picked before ripe

Ummm cook your own roast's ? So much better than shop brought

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Helen (17th Oct 2018 - 00:09:28)

And while you have the oven on custard tarts are not that difficult to make and far nicer than shop ones

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Finchie (17th Oct 2018 - 07:39:14)

Whoever is nominated to speak to the manager, please can you also ask if they can get some organic coconut milk and coconut cream in. I need it for my curry.

I have to go all the way to Waitrose in Haslemere for that.

Happy to pick up their high quality, uniformly curved, yellow bananas though, when I’m there next.

And another thing - does ground cardomen actually exist ? If it does, please could you also request they ship that in, most grateful. Fed up with grinding cardomen pods.

Enjoy, Finchie

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Helen (17th Oct 2018 - 10:13:41)

Finchie poundstretchers Bordon do coconut milk not sure if organic or not.

They sell Whole Earth organic coca cola though it is so different to normal almost like ginger beer.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- liz (17th Oct 2018 - 10:48:37)

Yes you can buy ground cardomom - but you lose some of the flavour. Probably won't get it from a supermarket though. You can also use the pods whole but have to watch out for them when you eat your curry!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- not again! (17th Oct 2018 - 11:19:45)

They had no fresh fish fingers in again today I did complain but they just pointed me to the frozen section, is this what it's come to? Loads of fresh fish on display but all without fingers.

Also they had no apricots, gave me some bull about being out of season. Well buy them in bulk and put them in a fridge till autumn, it's not my problem!

And no snake wine. Sainsburys are treating us like idiots.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- liz (17th Oct 2018 - 12:46:16)

Snake wine will be in this afternoon apparently but if you want a basic Chardonnay or some soda - forget it.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Ann (17th Oct 2018 - 12:52:57)

`not again` - how can you keep Apricots for a long period of time - they will go off!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Nicky (17th Oct 2018 - 13:19:54)

To be honest it’s not a case of chosing to shop elsewhere but more a case of necessity. Sainsburys seems to either be out of stock or to have discontinued so many lines that I have no choice but to go elsewhere. I simply don’t have time to visit a number of establishments. Sainsburys loss is someone else’s gain.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- P Issoff (20th Oct 2018 - 19:38:36)

So glad to hear all you moaning people are fed up with Sainsburys and are going to p*****f to other shops, so you can moan to their staff instead of us, we the poor sods who have to listen to your non stop whining about all the things that you think is wrong with the place. Can we point out to you that we don't own the company, we don't order the stock and we HAVE NO SAY in what the depot decided to send or not send to us and another thing some items are seasonal so they actually are hard to source. Finally we are short staffed alot with holidays and sickness not being covered, so the next time you see or hear a rather p****d of member of staff how about you look at it from their perspective for a change?!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- John (20th Oct 2018 - 20:53:49)

Welcome to the new England "P Issoff" everyone's angry and everyone else is to blame, this used to be a great country but lately its full of ar**h**es all wanting their moment to be heard regardless of how valid/important their argument is. The rats will soon jump of the GB islands are they are typically the first to spot a sinking ship.

How did we get to a stage within which someone whom cant spell the name of a fruit gets to insult decent people and it all taken seriously?

The bloody shame of some of the crap I read on here!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- liz (21st Oct 2018 - 08:22:54)

P Issoff
If you read these thread you will see people complaining about the company and management not the local staff. However it's interesting to hear what the staff think of their customers!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Yuck (27th Oct 2018 - 15:14:28)

In Sainsbury's Fri 26th around 5:30pm - bread on the shelf with best before date of 24th Oct. Good effort.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Suzie (27th Oct 2018 - 18:45:16)

Sorry to be negative, but the stock and staff are terrible at Sainsburys. Sue and Julie not included. The shelves are always empty and untidy and the staff don't seem to care about customer service. I have shopped there since it opened so I know the difference between the Sainsburys of old to what it is now. That comment from a staff member says it all.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Helen (28th Oct 2018 - 12:09:24)

Suzie

Yes your remarks are a tad negative. Do you ever use the normal tills as you might find a lot of the ladies who work on those are also polite and helpful. Sue & Julie tend to only be on the self scan tills.

How do you think the staff feel when they are being slayed who try to do their best to be positive read these remarks.

The shelves being empty are only filled with the stock that comes in. What comes in is out of their control.
Having been in over the weekend it was like Christmas all over.
Stock does not just appear overnight takes a couple of days to update systems. While we are in there buying all over again

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Bob (2nd Nov 2018 - 22:33:01)

Was in there late this afternoon. Found most items and no long queueing. But bananas are even more green and unripe! All green and not a yellow skin anywhere. Someone is now taking the pi** after ‘Mr Banana bad speller’ highlighted the plight of Liphook’s yellow banana lovers.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Paul (12th Nov 2018 - 15:03:00)

H'mm......was in there this morning....a lot of shelves half empty and not a manager in sight!

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Dawn Hoskins (12th Nov 2018 - 18:33:36)

apparently, the Godalming store is in the same way. Run perfectly smoothly for decades then in the last month - - - -empty shelves all over the place.
Must be a central decision by the 'bean counters' rather than an individual store managers making poor decisions.

Re: Sainsburys - Bannanas
- Benny Skinslip (12th Nov 2018 - 19:09:37)

I was in the Godalming store today and they had yellow bananas 🍌. So it’s lashing and lashings of banana custard at our house tonight
