Fireworks
- Anon (13th Aug 2018 - 22:37:17)

Congratulations to whoever had the fireworks two nights running on the Headley Road at 10pm last night and tonight.
Let's scare pets and old people without a thought!

Yes totally agree, really selfish and far too late in the evening.

Re: Fireworks
- Debbie (14th Aug 2018 - 08:47:54)

Be thankful that you don’t live next to Old Thorns. Because it’s now used mainly as a wedding venue we have them all the time. We used to get letters warning us that they would be letting them off but those letters are now few and far between. Also they are now so loud I’m sure they’re over the 120 decibel allowed.

Re: Fireworks
- ANDREW (14th Aug 2018 - 10:08:24)

I think it's time to have a new law
To lit fireworks and before 9.30 and no fireworks after that time

last night it make my 2 cats jump

Re: Fireworks
- Alan (14th Aug 2018 - 10:14:25)

Current law

"The law says you must not set off or throw fireworks (including sparklers) in the street or other public places. You must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except for: Bonfire Night, when the cut off is midnight. New Year's Eve, Diwali and Chinese New Year, when the cut off is 1am."

Re: Old Thorns

I live near there too - to be fair, they do still notify you (by email, rather than letter) and the fireworks last for 10 minutes, between 9:50pm - 10pm.

I'm not a fan, but it's a Saturday night and usually someone is getting married, so 10mins of barking (by our dogs, not me!!) is ok.

Re: Fireworks
- B (14th Aug 2018 - 15:43:44)

My word. The fireworks lasted no more than 10 minuets. They finished well before 10pm.

I know this because I was in bed when they started and were definitely not ear splitting loud. I swear down the majority of people who post on this forum would find something to moan about in an empty room.

I live on Headley Road and the fireworks last night and on Sunday night were very disturbing for children, animals and normal working folk. They were loud and intrusive enough to disturb..

Not normally one to complain but I am.

Re: Fireworks
- Kayleigh Adair (15th Aug 2018 - 20:38:45)

Im going to make this short and sweet....As someone has already stated they were set off within the guidelines that are currently set, so no law broken.
And secondly maybe before you post negative and thoughtless comments maybe take a minute to “gossip” with another negative poster to find out why they were set off.
Be mindful, there are some families that have to grieve, which we all do in our OWN way.

Meow Meow Meow. We don't mind. Meow Meow Meow

Re: Fireworks
- Roschelle Fowler (16th Aug 2018 - 14:57:27)

Hi there,
It was us that set the fireworks off.
Congratulations is not in order as I wouldn’t say it’s an achievement losing a father. The fireworks were short and sweet in honour of a great man that dedicated his life to his family. Please find something else to complain about.

Re: Fireworks
- Jacqueline Fowler (16th Aug 2018 - 15:37:31)

I am writing in response to the fireworks complaint
Sorry if you or your cats were momentarily scared....I’m scared of how I’ll face every single day of the rest of my life
I moved to this village in the early eighties and met my husband then shared our lives together ever since . I’ve seen a lot of events good and bad over the years both locally and world wide but my world shattered at being windowed at 51 on 26/07/18. My husband was a wonderful husband dad and grandad who was ill only once in his whole adult life from April to July this year so please remember as you begin to type such a non important rant get away from the keyboard and live a little hug your family stroke your pet have fun while you can!!

- Andrew (16th Aug 2018 - 19:58:06)

NOW all moaning idiots just think about this poor lady and her family .. your cats and kids alive this lady lost her sole mate ... I have lived here since 1963 and get to know people .. yes I know HP who they are and just give a little respect and support .. we always used to in this village

Re: Fireworks
- J (16th Aug 2018 - 20:46:06)

If anyone had known why the fireworks had gone off two nights in a row, I'm sure no one would have moaned on here.

Jacqueline so sorry for your terrible loss.

Re: Fireworks
- Mandi (19th Aug 2018 - 05:31:04)

Goodness sake its a few fireworks in memory of a poor man who has passed away .you need to stop moaning and realise life is too short to whinge !! The family are liphook people like myself.the ones doing the moaning are probably outsiders.stop and think before you judge.enjoy your life while you can.bereavement is hard and sad for anyone and if setting off a few fireworks in someones memory helps then so be it.

Re: Fireworks
- Anon (19th Aug 2018 - 16:39:29)

Ok for the above, but once again Saturday night fireworks from Old Thorns, together with loads of shouting and noise.
It seems since the Chinese linked with them it has become the norm!

Re: Fireworks
- Lily (19th Aug 2018 - 19:06:58)

Ignore the haters Jackie- I thought your Husband’s fireworks were v. moving!

Re: Fireworks
- J (19th Aug 2018 - 19:38:40)

As someone who has previously moaned about the noise from parties going on late at Highfield, I remarked to my wife that the fireworks last night were pretty loud but that a display that was less than 10 mins long starting at 9:45pm didn't seem unreasonable on a Saturday night.
