Liphook rocks competition (community hidden rocks project)
- Sumi Olson (6th Dec 2017 - 11:55:56)

You may have noticed Liphook has been graced with bright and colourful rocks these last few weeks. This is down to a community-minded local mother who set up our own hidden rocks project, #liphookrocks. For those of you on Facebook, there's a liphook rocks group you can join. When you find a rock, upload a photo to the group, re-hide the rock, and hopefully, make your own. And it's an open confession, the adults involved are as busily decorating rocks to hide as the children!! It's very therapeutic and addictive...

if you'd like to make some, please write #liphookrocks on the stone and if there's room, also write: "join the fb group, upload your photo, rehide, make your own". Designs so far have ranged from christmas decorations, flowers, animals, inspirational quotes, action heros, iconic album covers, flags, remembrance poppies, scout logos... it's been wonderful...

I've just released 50 Essential Lavender Company competition rocks into the Village where children can present me with the discovered rock and claim a prize. If you have children steer them to the following places: by the Longmore Road Junior School entrance, Bohunt entrance, opposite the allianz building (towards midhurst road car park), Radford Park entrance in Malthouse Meadows, Recreation Park entrance by top of Malthouse Meadows, and by the Millenium Centre and Ottawa drive. More will be distributed in the next couple of days.

Claim your prize (one per family) either at the Liphook Junior School Christmas event on Friday afternoon or at this Saturday's Wellness Morning, Canada Room, at the Millennium Centre SATURDAY 10 to 1pm. It runs at the same time as the Village Market.

If you can't make those times, please re-hide for other children. The competition rocks have ELC on them and signature lavender flowers xxx

Great idea!

How's the project coming along? How many rocks have been placed and found? Do you have any dedicated "rock finders"?

Please get in contact on rcurry@netcomuk.co.uk

Thanks.
Richard.

It's a shame that the Facebook page is a members only page, as most hidden rock sites are open for anyone who finds a rock to upload a picture. I have found two but I'm not on Facebook and asked a friend to post the pictures and say they are now hidden in Cornwall but he doesn't want to join the the site.

Last week I found a beautifully painted stone in Radford Park bearing the message PLEASE PICK UP DOG POO

I re-hid the stone on Bramshott Common (Ontario), a popular dog walking location, and found it had been moved the very next day!

I wonder where it is now? I regret I do not use Face-book so cannot post on there.
