The aim of The Liphook & District Businessmen’s Association [LiDBA] is to be of service to the community, particularly the young and disabled. The Association assists other local charities’ fund raising events as well as raising money for local deserving causes.
The Association has a monthly dinner meeting at a local hostelry at which fund raising events are discussed and planned. These meetings are very lighthearted, but purposeful.
In between times, there is a full social calendar which includes, for example: brewery visits, wine tasting, skittles, a safari supper, golf, slot car racing, etc.
Our main charity effort is the Annual Charity Bike Ride held every June, which is now one of the main charity fund raising events in the area, regularly attracting in excess of 1200 riders and consistently raising over £50,000 each year.
Not all members are in business, although this was the case when the Association was formed in 1974, hence the Association’s name. Our members now come from all walks of life and what they share is a wish to help the community whilst enjoying themselves socially. |
