Water Bills

South East Water customers are being encouraged to reach for the mouse and go online to find out how their water bills are helping to improve water supplies in their area.

The water company has produced a special online video about the important part bills play in providing top quality drinking water services, ahead of water bills for 2013-14 being issued.

By visiting customers can discover answers to questions about how water bills are set, and South East Water’s work behind the scenes to deliver clean, safe drinking water for just 55 pence a day. Steve George, Customer Services Director, said: “We want to reassure our customers of how their money is being spent and so we hope this video, which features staff from across the business, will do that in a more visual and dynamic way.

“Our staff work around the clock ensuring top quality water reaches customers’ taps, and investment from water bills helps us to continue to improve our service to customers.

“We have now completed three of the five years of a £390 million programme of investment which runs until 2015, and which is vital to ensure we continue to secure customers’ water supplies while also protecting the environment.”

South East Water has confirmed its average household water bill from 1 April 2013 will be £201.

This will help fund £91 million of investment during the year which will improve the network of pipes, pumping stations and treatment works, as well as develop new water resources. This will help maintain drinking water supplies which are among the best in Europe, and protect it in the longer term for the region’s growing population.

Steve George continued: “We believe that an average cost for drinking water of just 55 pence per day remains excellent value for money, but we do appreciate that some of our customers may be experiencing financial difficulties and so we have measures in place to help those customers facing real hardship.”

South East Water urges customers worried about their bill to get in touch sooner rather than later - while it cannot pay the bill for customers, it can, where possible, try to find flexible terms to help them. Further information on the range of payment options available can be found at
