Liphook horse show
- Esther & Franck (12th Dec 2012 - 19:55:04)
Hello,
We collect horse brasses and we're members of the National Horse Brass Society.
We have recently bought from a dealer who lives in Hampshire an original and antique horse brass which has the following inscriptions : "Liphook Heavy Horse Show First Prize 1906".
Does someone has any information on Liphook's heavy horse shows or photos ?

We would like to know more.
We would be grateful if you could help us.
Thank you very much.

Your find sounds fascinating.
Please make contact with the Heritage Centre which is run by Bramshott & Liphook Preservation Society at The Milennium Hall. Or contact them via enquiries@liphookheritage.org.uk
This archive has a wealth of information on the history of Bramshott and Liphook and may be able to help you in researching your item.
I am sure that they would love to have a photograph of your horse brass for their files.

Thank you Gina. We've just sent you a message so you have our e-mail address.
We would be happy to see your horse brasses.
If anyone is interested to see the photo of the Liphook horse brass of 1906 we have in our collection, as a matter of interest, it would be our pleasure to send it by e-mail (as i don't think we can show photos here).

Hello
Now the photo of the horse brass is online, does anyone have any information on the shows that used to take place in Liphook more than a century ago ?
Please ask your grandparents on Christmas !

- The Liphook Heritage Centre (22nd Nov 2013 - 08:35:17)
The Liphook Heritage Centre has carried out extensive research on the Liphook Heavy Horse Show to find out further information. We have inspected all copies of newspapers current at that time, requested information from all relevant publications & organisations and contacted the Haslemere Museum and the Hampshire County Council Records office all to no avail.
It remains a mystery, but we haven't given up!!
The Heritage Centre is open at the following times:-
10.00am to noon on Mondays and Fridays
2.00pm to 4.00pm on Wednesdays
If you are interested in local history you would very welcome to visit us and view the exhibits and inspect the extensive collection of historical documents.
