Half price fish and chips - with chaos! - Simon (21st Nov 2012 - 19:16:48) Anyone try and get some 'half price fish and chips' from the Liphook Fish Bar Tues / Wed? I popped in at 6.45 on Wed to total chaos - customers arguing with the staff, orders totally wrong, line of people waiting for food out the door! I'm all for offers but maybe they should have thought this one through, I gave up after 10 mins and no order being taken / likely to be taken. Shame as their food is pretty good.

Re: Half price fish and chips - with chaos! - dee (21st Nov 2012 - 19:53:11) i totally agree, and if i were working there and spoken to like that woman spoke to her staff, i would walk out! who does she think she is? its so good normally why do they do these deals and change a normally happy place. put me off going there again thats for sure.

Re: Half price fish and chips - with chaos! - Eneida Nelson (21st Nov 2012 - 23:50:50) I walked past the Headley Road chip shop tonight about 7pm and was amazed to see an enormous queue of people waiting to go in...I was even more amazed to see two large cars parked totally blocking the entrance to the Grove!!! Does the thought of half price fish and chips completely negate the fact residents might want to be able to drive in and out of their road in some people's minds??

Re: Half price fish and chips - with chaos! - Russ (22nd Nov 2012 - 09:36:49) Yeah, we drove past at 5.20pm yesterday to find them queueing out the door and the place rammed inside, so we didn't bother as thought we'd probably be waiting over 30 minutes or so.

Was very busy & our order was not quite right, but excellent food and service. Think the till was not printing the orders out properly which may be reason for confusion. Excellent value for money too!

Re: Half price fish and chips - with chaos! - IC (23rd Nov 2012 - 15:42:09) Excellent food, excellent promotion and I'm all for special offers, but please please please get a system going with your staff! Anticpate the demand (should have spotted that on Tues and changed things by Weds!) Cook enough quantities to start with and shelve it. Take a name, write it on the receipt, call the name out, serve it from the hot shelves or in order of taking. Take 10 orders at a time and cook it. Do anything you like except what you were doing on Tues/Weds night! Any system is better than no system at all, hence the chaos in there. Failing to plan is planning to fail. No idea how many people walked out but I certainly saw a load do it, and just as many coming back in claiming their order was wrong. Even less idea about how many people just gave the place a complete miss because of the queuing out the door. A real shame it didn't go smoother for them and that's why we've got this thread instead of a far more complimentary one!
