Days out with the children
- karen f (30th Jul 2007 - 15:04:37)

Have you been out recently somewhere with your children and would like to recommend the venue to other parents looking for ideas? Well let's start here:

I went to Milestones in Basingstoke last week. Fantastic place, very clean, very interesting (quite good exercise if you have an active 2 year old like I do) but my 7 year old loved it. It is basically an undercover living history museum so you can go whatever the weather. More details on www.milestones-museum.com. Would thoroughly recommend, does anyone else have any other ideas for good places to visit locally?

Look forward to hearing from you all...

Have you tried Waggoners Wells? I hear a lot about the very pretty Radford Park on this website but 'Waggies' is more fun for kids of all ages. (Sorry about the cliche but it is appropriate!). Explore the lakes and take a picnic (now I sound like a travel brochure) up onto Ludshott Common.

Karen,

Marwell activity centre is good fun for kids. But it will cost !

Bemboe pond is always good for a picnic, feed the ducks and the fish . Its just the other side of midhurst on the petworth road. And petworth park is a good picnic area , lots of dear walking around..

my friend got a rail card for £20 which lasts for a year and entitles up to 4 adults and 4 children discount fares. adults 1/3 off and children 60% off. She took her 2 kids and 1 of their friends to Brighton for the day and it cost £11.75. it cost her less to go there than it did for her train fares from the same destination to Liphook so that's gotta be a bargain. The kids enjoyed the journey and they went for a picnic and a walk around the shops and the beach, it was somewhere different for them to go. she only got the card last week and she has more than gained the initial £20 back from how much the fares would have cost. it is also only a pound for the kids to go to London on this card. even if you don't have a lot of money its a good yearly investment as most kids enjoy looking around the big shops and seeing the sights of such a big city.

Just been to Alice Holt where the kids and dads took part in the Go Ape activity. Little bit pricey but very much worth it as it lasts around 3 hrs and involves lots of excercise and fresh air. We had a picnic afterwards and enjoyed the walk in the forest. There were toilets available, very clean and a cafe. A very nice atmosphere. U can get in free, the parking is only 4 pound for the whole day, 10 to 9. There are playgounds for the younger kids and thats all free too. Highly recommended! U can also hire a b b cue.
