PCC Elections in Hampshire
- Steve (16th Nov 2012 - 17:50:09)

Delighted to see that Don Jerrard of the Justice and Anti-Corruption Party, not an independent candidate as many believed, is not our commissioner. I cannot think of anyone less suited for that job. Don’t know why he bothered, but it was probably aimed at spoiling everyone else. Sky News has just done a report from Southampton. Don Jerrard went up to speak after the winner, and very sensibly the reporter cut back to the studio so we did not have to hear Don Jerrard banging on about nothing and making it all sound plausible. A good day for everyone as we can all sleep safer in our homes knowing that Don Jerrard will not be causing havoc with the police who have enough problems to deal with. Also saw that Don Jerrard has made a complaint to the police about Michael Mates over the location of his residence. Don Jerrard lives in Greatham which is outside the local Liphook boundary, but he is a Liphook councillor. So pot, kettle, black.

What is the point of this posting?

Trying to get backs up or encourage a law suit?

I think you should keep your personal, slander to yourself, there was nothing in your post that benefits the community.

We get it, you don't like him. You didn't vote for him. Fine.

I endorse Steve's posting and fail to see why Susie asks what is the point of it. Why should Steve's motives be questioned and the implication made that he is "trying to get backs up or encourage a law suit?" We get it, you don't like Don Jerrard being criticised for whatever reason, fine, but there are some of us who have seen this man in action and know that what Steve is saying is true. It is my understanding that if you say something that is true it is not slanderous and I agree with Steve in my opinion it would have been disastrous if Don Jerrard had been elected. I personally have seen Don Jerrard "rant" on more than one occasion, one of the times being at the North East Forum when it was held at Whitehill. His diatribe was directed at the Assistant Chief Constable who was present at the meeting and he just went on and on. It was very unpleasant and not a constructive performance.

Steve is correct when he says that Don Jerrard made a complaint about Michael Mates over the location of his residence. However, John, Steve said nothing in his posting about Mr Mates being a "good bet" - he was stating the fact that Don Jerrard had made a complaint, so I do not know where you got that idea from. However re: Don Jerrard being a Liphook councillor but lives in Greatham, it is a fact that with regard to parish councils anyone can stand if the boundary of where they live is within 3 miles of the boundary of the parish in which they are standing and Greatham's boundary is within 3 miles of Liphook's.

Simon, I don't think that your posting is a very good analogy and I quote:

"L&BPC are moveing forward a new clerk will be appointed soon the rif raff have gone best wishes to don jerrard & all the other fine and decent folk at L&BPC. As mr mates once said dont let the buggers get you down!"

The person to whom Michael Mates was referring was Asil Nadir who was imprisoned for 10 years to stealing 28 million from his Polly Peck Company.

What are you implying and what is the connection? Michael Mates was giving encouragement to a crook - in what sort of light does that put Don Jerrard and the new PC .
