Bohunt Conservation Trust
- rita (19th Jul 2007 - 13:06:31)

Does this trust exist - I can't find anything on it anywhere on the internet. Is this the same trust that encouraged people to volunteer to plant hundreds of trees for free?

Really, does anyone seriously believe that the owner of bohunt manor would sell the house without the land and not intend at some point to redevelop the land for housing?

I would be intrigued to know what other residents think.

Actually Rita it does exist, but I think it is called 'The Bohunt Manor Conservancy'.
My son tells me that only last week a number of its young volunteers were awarded certificates from Volvo U.K. for conservation work carried out on their land at the manor and a special presentation was made at Bohunt School. I hear that one of the boys won £500 PRIZE MONEY from Volvo towards a camera as recognition of his special contribution to the Conservancy AT Bohunt Manor, something to do with nesting birds I think. Why not phone the headmaster to find out? I think there was something in the Petersfield Post.

You have been able to follow the Bohunt Manor Conservancy on the web for well over a year now, had you Googled our name: bohuntmanorconservancy.blogspot.com. Others have actually popped in to chat with us to follow their interests in the topic.

Many inquisitive people supported our launch in February 2006 and quite a few volunteered on the day of the community tree planting event to join our community group, to build on their genuine interest in nature conservation in a practical way.

Alternatively, you can rely on the local rag and talkback and be none the wiser, until now.

.....but thanks to Talkback we ARE now wiser and know where to find you on the web. You could also try writing to the 'local rag' if you want to increase your profile. (Perhaps you don't).

Liz, Rita and Anon,

I would be very happy to help you put your concern for the local environment into practice - with support from people like yourselves, perhaps Liphook can retain one of the best examples nationally of this type of wetland habitat. Please contact me via our website (as above).

Thanks Lisa for reminding us that conservation work goes on in the background by those who want to make a difference.

Thanks Paddy. Already try to do what I can for the local environment. Good luck with your projects though, I will try to get down to Bohunt at some time to see what is happening.

Liz
