Window advice
- Simon (2nd Nov 2012 - 14:11:25)

We have a Velux window which has condensation every morning. I would be grateful for any advice on whether the whole window needs replacing or if replacement seals would solve the problem. Also, does anyone know of any experts locally who could help?

I know it sounds obvious but have you looked on the Velux website for advice? We have a Velux window that suddenly 'imploded' for no apparent reason. I called a few local window companies but was told that they didnt deal with Velux windows as they are made to a different system. I then looked on the Velux website yesterday to discover that my type of window had a product Warning notice saying that those produced between 1997-2003 had faults that were causing them to shatter. I phoned Velux and they immediately arranged to replace it for free, any time at my convenience, even Saturdays. I'm not saying yours is one of these faulty types, but I was very impressed with the Velux customer service and how easy it was to talk to someone. Good luck!

Any double glazing with condensation usually means the units seal has failed. It may then need to be replaced in order to clear the condensation and restore its original heat preservation properties.

As someone suggested earlier, it may be wise to check the Velux website or perhaps contact a local glazier.

Kind regards

Hi, this might not be specific to any window type but may just be normal condensation which is heightened in cold weather as the warm central heating causes moisture to condense on the cold windows. We have to wipe down all our bedroom windows each morning.
Not saying this is definitely your issue but worth mentioning.
