flocks of pigeons
- rob (18th Jun 2007 - 09:32:47)

Does anyone know anything about the origin of the large flock (or sometimes two flocks) of pigeons that circle the Headley Road/Longmoor Road area many mornings? I assume they're racing pigeons out for their morning exercise. But where are they kept? And how do they know when to come back in?

Didn't Flock of Pigeons have a number 1 back in the eighties? Maybe they're reforming

Are you thinking of Lieutenant Pigeon who had a hit with the novelty record "Mouldy old Dough" in 1972.

It wasn't old Speckled Jim and a few of his mates out of Blackadder.

Rob,

I've seen this flock of 'pigeons' you're talking about flying around in the early morning above the Headley Road.

However, I've always thought they were actually white doves....far more classy and this IS Liphook ;)....and that perhaps someone nearby had a dovecote ??

...you mean "Flock of Seagulls"! They had a number of hits in the 80s. I also (very occasionally) see them hovering around the recycling area at Sainsburies.
