The Spaniard - 100 bed hotel?
- Freddie Dawkins (11th Feb 2004 - 14:37:09)
Apparently. an application has gone in at Penns Place, for a 100- bed hotel on The Spaniard site. Now, how will the Highways Agency cater for access to/from? Probably a good time to apply, as the public inquiry into the A3 has not started.

I think anything that can be done to address the dreadful deterioration to the Spaniard site should be encouraged save for the return of the 'travellers' who inflicted so much damage to the building when they last visited the site!
By the way, how many people know that many years ago the original 'Fleetwood Mac' practiced in the wooden barn at the back of the Spaniard before going on to greater things?

Paul -
Didn't know that.
But used to know some of the the original band, cos they gigged a bit at the Budgie Club in Ilford back in, say, late 60's/early 70's...the memory's fading...

Well there you go.
How about a blue plaque on the new 100 bedroom hotel when it's built and maybe a 'Fleetwood Mac' lounge?

And Simon Coyte told me tonight that he used to service Mick Fleetwood's car!

On June 24 1942, Mick Fleetwood, drummer with Fleetwood Mac, was born in London.
On June 24 1965, John Lennon's second book, "A Spaniard in the Works," was published.
Just thought you might like to know that.

So, who remembers the Seven Thorns and more importantly, who went there?

Now not a lot of people know this .............
Also heard that Michael Caine used to be a co-owner of The Spaniard Inn - not sure how true this is?
