sofa giveaway

Charities that accept sofas?
I have an used sofa available and would prefer to donate it to charity.
Liphook Cancer Resarch directed me to The Furniture Halpline in Bordon. Rather surprisingly, they will not take it because (1) they have a surplus of sofas; (2) the one inch tear one base cushion invalidates the fire retardancy.
Other than that its in decent condition for a 10 year old sofa and certainly it would be shame to landfill it.
Open to suggestions from charities or deserving causes.

You might have luck with the Salvation Army. Maybe if you repaired the tear Furniture Helpline could then take it?

You could always try freecycle - www.freecycle.org that's where our last sofabed went, someone picked it up from us, much better than lugging it down the tip!
I think there are Petersfield and Portsmouth groups.

Thanks for suggestions. Still trying charity shops but all are "full".
How hard can it be to give something away?

TRY PUTTING A SMALL NOTICE IN GABLES NEWS AGENCY, THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE LOOKING FOR CHEAP SOFAS TO HELP FILL THEIR NEW FLATS, would be a lot cheaper than trying to get it to a landfill and helps recyle, they might be able to put a throw over it if they dont like the colour??
