Liphook of the Future - Bramshott & Liphook Parish Plan
- JeffB (17th Oct 2012 - 15:44:26)

I only stumbled across this in an article in this weeks Messenger.

There is a website for the "Bramshott & Liphook Parish Plan"

www.liphookplan.co.uk

The Messenger mentions a leisure complex, a new link road from Longmoor Road to Haslemere amongst other things.
Found no details on any of that.

Not sure what I expected but possibly a little more detail on what is likely to happen.

If anybody has any details then feel free to enlighten us.

Unfortunately there is no Parish Plan as far as I can see although it may be 'in progress' but I cannot get any information. The leisure centre and the new road through to the Longmoor Road were an initial proposal (carrot) put forward by those planning to develop the Bohunt Manor site - the ironically and rather cynically named 'Green Village Investments', formerly Geriwell Management. This will be in return for eventually being allowed to build hundreds of houses on the Bohunt site of course. That will be the end of our green village.

If you want to see the reports, then go to thwe website mentioned above and click on reports, they are quite comprehensive.

Thanks for that - I'm sure a lot of people will be interested. Unfortunately not had time to read all of it yet but as regards development hopefully the fact that Liphook's quota of new build has largely been filled and residents desire to keep the rural feel of the area will have some impact on preventing large scale further development.

I would be interested to see a plan for a longmoor road bypass --is there anything in writing to view? Surely this would be only to advantage a road leading directly to a Bohunt Manor housing development from the griggs green end of the village I cannot see where else a new road would go?

I have looked through the comprehensive reports and not found anything, I feel, of use.

Being a Plan I would have expected to see a plan!
To be able to visualise these wonderful, if mythical, suggestions.

That is why I posted this to the wider community.

As for the Messengers reports of a leisure complex, a new link road from Longmoor Road to Haslemere there is no mention.

So they obviously have access to more info than we do.

Or is it the age old saying, "Don't believe what you read in the papers!"

Re. the mentioned bypass from Longmoor Rd to Haslemere surely it's a wind up? How would they do it? I've briefly given it some thought and it could theoretically be done but would be necessary to integrate it now into any building developement plans for the concreting over of Bohunt Manor (against the benefactors wishes) and the other one on Longmoor Road, but the advantages could be huge.
Presumably a lot of council or government money would be needed (not easy in todays environment) and I presume widening of Highfield Lane and a tunnel under the railway (another tunnel!) to link up to the B2131 Haslemere/Liphook Road.
Surely it's just a daydream, but please let me know if there's any real prospect and how we might help as it would be great for the village to have less traffic around the Square...
Thanks.

If you believe anything you read either in local newspapers or in any plans and development you are naive, look at the promises that were made during the 'consultation' phase of the development of the OSU site (sainsburys), no useful road infrastructures were added even though it was high on the agenda of the locals who attended the workshops at Bohunt Community Centre and School. The bohunt was originally supposed to be part community centre but that seems to be falling away as well. So, the moral is not to trust those you put in place to protect your interests - keep an eye on them! (or lose what is left of the village of Liphook).

Naively thinking that possibly one of the many people involved in writing this Plan may read Talkback and reply in some way.

As for your other comments around OSU and the promises made we all know there are plenty of things that have been swept under the carpet locally and at EHDC.

I'm sure most have free membership at an expanding golf and country club with our local MP. (Let's not turn this post into another slanging match of local councils!!)

Living in hope that somebody local might know what our village plan consists of apart from descriptions of hamlets and nothing about the future!! ;-)

Another name for a Parish Plan is a Community Led Plan. It is largely what the community can do for itself perhaps by fundraising, volunteers, grants or getting other organisations involved. The reports are still at their draft stage and at least state what the Parish has at the moment, that way the Parish can move forward to the next step.

At this stage it is not about future planning and development - that would come with a Neighbourhood Plan. Suggestions for what people want are well and good but how can they be implemented? Landowners, developers, businesses, authorities all have to be in agreement and proposals have to be financially viable and achievable, and legal. If there is enough support then there is a chance that some proposals can be implemented.

Use the website to post your ideas. Use talkback. It doesn\'t matter if ideas are small or large scale. They might be achievable now or they might be put into a melting pot for the future. Have a bit of a grumble by all means but let\'s have some positive ideas too.

Seems to be a muddle here. There was/is a plan initially proposed by the owners of the Bohunt Estate (not the Manor) to put a road connecting the Longmoor Rd, across Bohunt land to the 'old A3' at its junction with Station Rd where the new roundabout is proposed.

This would involve 'concreting over' the estate as someone has mentioned, including heaven's knows how many more houses. This is purely a plan put forward by developers and has nothing (officially) to do with the Parish Council. Although I rather suspect some Councillors in the past have seen it and thought it a good idea!

I don't think this road would do much to relieve traffic in the Square as it would not connect to the Headley or Haslemere Roads. There was an idea to build a route from Sainsbury's to the Haslemere Road and then London Road but the land that was kept for this at the Sainsbury's end has been built on I beleive. (Good planning!!)
