Top Chef - chinese takeaway
- gen (15th Jun 2007 - 07:31:00)
I think the Chinese takeaway in Station Road is very good. Particularly their hot shredded beef and the singapore noodles are pretty good too.
What's the other one near the Square like?

see what i mean about gen having no taste buds, cant belive that she thinks chinese food is nice from a take away, everybody knows that the food is full of MSG and made with with poor quality ingredents to keep the price down, wonder if she paid the right amount for her food knowing her problems with reading a recipt. rest my case

What a dear little chap you are! Have you got a dictionary?
I'm sure you must have shares in a certain other establishment!

Sorry, have to agree with Gen here, I love their crispy chilli beef strips, not to fussed about all the added additives in it as only have it about once a month. What is the world coming to if we can't enjoy junk food now and then...everything in moderation.....!

The good thing about Chinese food isa that it is cooked quickly and virtually in front of you. The ingrediants are fresh and not out of tins or frozen as some people imagine.
I have eaten Chinese food all over the world. San Francisco is probably in a class of its own, but Vancouver and London are not far behind. When it comes to takeaway, The Good Earth franchise shops are the best I have found, but we are very lucky to have Top Chef in a small village like Liphook. It is reliable and good value.
I haven't tried Lee's Garden near the Square, but would appreciate some feedback on this. Mark need not bother to reply since he obviously doesn't like Chinese food. He sounds like a burger and chips man to me...

Lee's Garden by the Square is excellent - I haven't tried Top Chef yet as Lee's Garden is so tasty (no affiliation etc. unlike some posters). On a whim I tried the Mongolian lamb there the other day and it was fabulous.
All the standard dishes are done very well and I have no complaints about it.

Agree about Lee's Garden. Excellent singapore noodles, crispy duck, etc.
It's rumoured they're planning to take over Bibi Anna's as a sit-down Chinese restaurant. I'd go there!

We prefer Lee's Garden having tried both. Their Kung Po Chicken and Kung Po King Prawns are DELICIOUS - provided you like lots of garlic! Some say the Good Earth on Weyhill is good but we haven't ventured there.
Incidently we have tried the new Village Tandoori twice and been disappointed on two counts - small portions and the food was cold when we collected it and had to be reheated in the microwave. Can't beat the Madhuban in Liss or Chilli Night on Weyhill for good curry meals.

Just to balance out the perspective, I've been very happy with the Village Tandoori so far, but it does seem to get very busy and I haven't used the home delivery yet as I prefer the food piping hot.

This is to little m mark
Don't think you have a case and even if you did I don't suppose you'd realise it.
STOP PICKING ON GEN! If you were to say something NICE for a change then we might all overlook your hopeless spelling.

Marvellous to get all these tips about places to try, aren't we lucky to have the choice. Will give all of them a go, wish I hadn't read this just after walking in feeling ravenous - I'm supposed to be on a diet and ration myself to one takeaway a fortnight!
Liza lamb you are a dear
Small m is not a lad to fear -
Not brought up like you and me
With manners and a dictionary
A cheeky maladjusted bod
Some might say, a little s**
Perhaps he'll learn from our exchange
To say some nice things for a change.
