Gurkha
- liz (14th Jun 2007 - 14:13:36)

The food in the Gurkha, judging by our last visit, is now excellent. In fact the food has been excellent for a while (after an extended 'dodgy' patch) but the service was rather slow. Now seem to have got their act together and the restaurant is now a very good local place to eat. Highly recommended!!

Are the chefs a different bunch now? We found them pretty good six months ago, although we liked the sizzling dishes better that the other things. Some of the ordinary chicken dishes appeared to have been cooked with breast and had perhaps been cooked a little too long, which made them rather hard. The onion bhaji used to be to die for - the best I'd had anywhere.

What dishes can you recommend particularly - if there is a new regime??

Gen

The food has improved considerably which was my point. There was a few of us and everyone was plesed with their choices. Of note the chicken livers were delicious (very easy to over or undercook) and the traditional nepalese lamb curry was superb. A friend who is not keen on curries had duck cooked in a chinese style with some excellent noodles. Hope that's enough detail!

Thanks, liz! Can't wait to give it a try. Love chicken livers, when I had them in Jan they were a bit overcooked - you're quite right, they need skilful cooking for something so simple.
