IT'S THOSE SWEET PEAS AGAIN
- Liza of the Lambs (13th Jun 2007 - 16:14:17)

Well, they have been flying out of the door down at PRC. This new venture of ours (this is me and Helen) is all a bit experimental but we have been amazed just how may people today still seem to adore these old fashioned flowers. It's incredibly rewarding to be growing something WE LOVE that seems to be giving so much pleasure to so many - How lucky we are!

We have no idea how long they will be so prolific and we want to get them to you as fresh as possible - so - PRC (guess most people know where that is now?) is a bit off the beaten track - although there is plenty of parking at the rear - Any ideas out there (serious ones pls), of where we might be able to set up a stall without being treading on anyone's toes or being arrested? (Think we'd draw the line at standing on street corners!).

A bit of fanciful whimsey:-

"Here are Sweet Peas, on tiptoe for a flight,
With wings of gentle flush o'er delicate white,
And taper fingers catching at all things,
To bind them all about with tiny rings" John Keats, c.1817

Someone else said:-

"If you could see how rushed I am,
From morning until night,
The reason you would know at once
Why I so seldom write.

Mid'st all the rush and hustle tho'
There are some pleasures too,
When I can send, with love sincere,
My sweetest flowers to you."

Guess that says it all - How nice!

We bought three bunches of your lovely sweet peas from PRC, they were glorious, wonderful colours and scent. You must be getting fed up with picking them all!

Have you tried asking Linda at Peep Inside if she would display bunches outside her shop in Station Road? She sold excellent daffs there earlier in the year so she might be interested. Or maybe Mary and Sue at Art Work on the Headley Road might be willing. These are just suggestions on my part as I haven't spoken to any of the above.

Anyway good luck!

Sue M

Hi Sue M!

Thanks for your outlet suggestions, we'll give them a try. Do we get fed up picking the all? NO! - How could anyone get fed up picking the little beauties - they smell good, they look good, you can do it standing up and the more you pick - the more they grow! What more could you ask?
