Classes & Workshops at The Phoenix
- The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre (11th Oct 2012 - 13:43:24)
The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre in Bordon is delighted to be able to offer an exciting mix of adult classes and workshops for the local community to come and get involved in. It allows more and more people the chance to get stuck in and give something new a try. From life drawing to guitar tuition, from burlesque dancing to stained glass window making there really is something for everyone.
Not only are the ranges of classes more exciting than ever, but we've made them more accessible for all to attend. This is because The Phoenix has received funding from Hampshire Learning, allowing us to offer substantial discounts on a number of classes and workshops.
For those that have been hit hard by the current economic climate a discount of 50% can be applied on many of the adult classes and workshops- helping making it more affordable for those on active benefits. In addition to this, for the over 60's The Phoenix provides a 25% discount.
The Classes:
Have you ever thought about learning an instrument? Well now you can with our GUITAR TUITION for beginners on a Tuesday evening. Learn to play acoustic or electric guitar the choice is yours. Or maybe you want to unleash your creative side at one of the ART CLASSES running on Wednesdays and Thursdays of every week. From 1-3pm on a Wednesday there is Introduction to art where you will learn a number of techniques to create a masterpiece! For something a little bit different why not try Canal Art in the evening, where you will be able to learn the techniques of this ancient craft. And, for those who have dabbled before and just cant get enough pop along to Intermediate Art at 7-9pm on Thursdays.
In addition to our art classes there is ZUMBA on Monday evenings for those looking for an exotic alternative to exercise; you can dance away those calories to high energy Latin beats. Or for a more relaxed evening why not discover the joy of SINGING and join our very own Phoenix Community Choir on Thursday evenings at The Phoenix.
** Please note these classes run over a 10 weeks term and some have commenced already and maybe full***
Workshops:
As well as these many classes on offer, The Phoenix also runs a number of workshops. The first of which is Intergenerational DANCE, on 31 October 6-8pm, for those aged from 18 to 100! This is contemporary dance workshop with Spiral Dance Company for all levels of ability and experience to come and enjoy moving and feeling confident.
If this takes your fancy why not come along to our CONTEMPORARY DANCE class as well on 24 November.
Something for the ladies is the BURLESQUE DANCING on Saturday 10 November. Back by popular demand this workshop allows the ladies to free their glamours seductress and learn classic burlesque routines.
With plenty on offer why not come and get involved at The Phoenix now!
For the full programme of adult classes & workshops and more details of those mentioned above please visit The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre website at www.phoenixarts.co.uk or phone 01420 472664.
