Wine Tasting Evening - Jenny Alexander (4th Jun 2007 - 13:50:48)
Hi,
As part of our fundraising efforts (www.justgiving.com/bennettandjenny) we are arranging a wine tasting evening on the 28th June.
It will be held at the Georgian House Hotel at around 8pm. Richard Royds has kindly agreed to hoast the evening for us - he is the owner of Haslemere Cellar and has many years knowledge of the wine industry behind him.
If you would be interested in attending then please let me know - tickets will be priced at around £25 with the money going to Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital.
I am glad that you are fundraising, but wouldn't it have been better to have asked The General Wine in Liphook, if you intended to advertise on the Liphook site? - or not mentioned who was hosting the tasting?
If you asked them and they refused - i apologise in advance.

I did ask them and they were unable to help me on this occasion as they already have a booking on that day - they were the first people i approached as my brother works for them!
I am also in the tough position that i live in Haslemere but grew up in Liphook so i have to try and support local businesses in both towns.
The sad fact is also the even though i grew up in Liphook and do everything i can to support the local businesses neither of my old schools and none of the businesses i have approached have helped me with either sponsorship or presents for raffles.
There were even a few people on this site who said they would sponsor me but as yet haven't. I am fast discovering that fundraising is really hard work and not everyone keeps promises they make.
I could try fining everyone £1 each time they mention Sainsbury's - i could reach my target of £6k in no time at all!!!!!

Slight change in plan the above details - It will now be a wine and cheese tasting evening and it will start at 7.30pm.
Tickets are on sale now so contact me if you are interested!

Just in case anyone from here was thinking of attending please be aware that this event has now been cancelled.
