M & S and parking - gen (2nd Jun 2007 - 17:42:22) Just been to the new M & S - such a good parking idea, there's a machine that gives you a free ticket for one hour, after that it costs £1.50. Lovely clean store, well-stocked shelves, loads of offers - anyone tried it yet?

These 'posh' mags (IMO but obviously not Gen's ;) )base their distribution areas on house prices and there's no doubt we're catching up with places like Haslemere now....and about time too. Can't see much chance of an M & S here though, with one just opened in Petersfield. Eneida

Re: M & S and parking - Sue W (5th Jun 2007 - 20:46:31) eneida, There is a downside to rising house prices - many will be unable to afford to live here - apart from commuters with bumper salaries. Those that wish to live in a selective area borrow to the hilt and do not have any spare cash to spend, those on the other hand on lower priced homes, have far more disposable income. Just a thought!. Good if you are of the older generation, that wish to downsize and have a bumper growth on your property, but not too good for the younger families/couples wishing to remain in their 'home town'

It's happened all over the south of England....you should see the prices in the West Country now... astronomical... mainly pushed up by second homers. When I was a young person, I would have loved to have stayed in my favourite part of England where I grew up...The New Forest...but I still can't afford to live there!!! Eneida
