Free 'Taster' swimming sessions - Chrissy (4th Oct 2012 - 13:23:05) We are trying to raise awareness of the importance of Baby Swimming and are offering a FREE taster session to be held on 6th November in Bordon. Baby’s cannot swim on the surface of the water until they are about 3 years old, as they are just not strong enough, but they can swim short distances below the surface because of the buoyancy of the water and the fact they are born with a gag reflex which enables them to automatically hold their breath under water. The benefits of teaching babies to swim at an early age are immense, notwithstanding the fact that they learn how much fun it is to swim, taking the fear out of being in a body of water, and giving babies the opportunity to gain confidence in the water, saves lives. The number of mums who are unaware that babies can learn to swim at a very early age is unbelievable, and the statistics that show how many children who start school at the age of 4 who do not know how to swim, is scary. We are so passionate about this that we are offering a FREE taster session at our selected venues, at our Bordon pool which is so warm and toasty that we can take newborns.
