Council Elections 2007
- AJ (4th May 2007 - 14:51:20)

Pleased to hear that the conservatives are still in power.. just hope we can get things sorted out in the Village/Town quickly.

I'm glad someone is pleased to hear the Conservatives remained in - becuase I'm not.

What have they actually done to improve Liphook?

Rob Evans, David Raison and Jim Walters all deserve more credit than they got. For one they were the only ones tackling issues, and actually talking to local people. All we got from the Conservatives was one rubbish leaflet. Rob Evans came round and had the courtesy to speak to me rather and discuss local issues and how he was going to tackle them.

A few more painful Conservative years to endure...

No wonder Liphook is in the state that it is when only 28% of the available voters can be bothered to vote. We were almost the lowest in the area.

Re: Council Elections 2007
- Stephen (14th May 2007 - 09:04:39)

Hmm,

100% of the candidates couldn't be bothered to put anything through my letterbox to request me to vote for them and to explain why I should do so.

Hence vote not cast for anyone.

Yours, disaffected!

You are right, neither did they pop in or leaflet businesses. Unless someone knows differently?

I believe that they went into shops etc and asked but many business decided not to have it up in fear of loosing custom because of political views.

We revieved two leaflets though our door conservatives and Lib-dem leaflets

Hiya

We recieved a couple of leaflets through our door at home. No sniff of a personal visit in order to discuss issues etc. I do find that a shame as it's nice to be able to meet the personalities behind the electioneering.

As to businesses, we heard and saw nothing from any candidate in ours, so perhaps they weren't considered good election fodder?

Sorry, but you seem to be refering to a political advertising poster, that would indeed be unprofessional. What I meant was something about the policies you stood for!!.

We got leaflets through the door - one from the conservatives and TWO from the Lib Dems, including one on the day of the election which actually swayed my way of voting.

I voted at 9pm and couldnt believe how few names had been crossed off. Its everyones democratic right to vote and those who didnt really havent cause to grumble about what does and doesnt happy in the village and surrounds.

I've dug this up from the past...is it going to be any different this time? Where are these people asking for our vote? If they can't be bothered to come and talk to people then how can they expect for the voters to turn out...or is that what they want??

I see some of the same names are asking to be elected this time too.

The last Parish Council meeting before the election on Thursday 5th May is to be held in the Parish Office on Monday 18th April. This is a week earlier than usual to avoid clashing with Easter Monday 25th April.

The public are invited to come along and see their Council at work and ask questions in the Public Participation Session.

Since the Parish Council Election coincides with the District Council Elections and the referendum on the Alternative Voting System for the United Kingdom Parliamentary Elections, it is to be hoped that the turn out for the Parish Council Election will be better than last time when less than 15% of those eligible to vote did so.
