Where to go with your grandchildren on a rainy day
- Lizzy Cornish (23rd Sep 2012 - 01:33:20)

Hi

My 2 adorable grandchildren are staying wirh us for 2 days. They are 6 and 9, the oldest being a boy,

Today we took them to Matilda, which was fab. Tomorrow we had planned to go to Marwell, but it\'s going to rain. We can do lots at home, but it would be nice to take them out somewhere different, as well, or I might, possibly, go mad,

Only joking, but any Mums and Dads who know of good indoor places to take them, I\'d be grateful for your suggestions,
very quickly.

Thanks, hopefully,

Liz

You'll need a bigger playzone for older children - and they are further away. There's one near Havant Civic centre I think (poosibly at Horizon Leisure Centre?), and one in Portsmouth, called the Playzone, I think, and JJ's in Basingstoke.

There is also Intech in Winchester, an interatcive science and technology centre - I want to visit there, I hear it's great!

Or, just put on the waterproofs and embrace the weather on a long country walk. Sometimes, if you are prepared, it can be great fun!

You could try Rokers Little Angels at Guildford. It is an indoor play area, when our kids were small they loved it.
Phone 01428 727281 You can look it up on their website. Not too far to go either.

How about the Intech Science Centre at Winchester?

Also have a look at Milestones Museum in Basingstoke. It is all under cover, lots of hands on things for the children to do and nostalgia for grandparents too.

Either ice skating or swimming at Spectrum in Guildford would go down a treat!

Thank you so much for all of your many ideas.

I was overwhelmed by how many people would come to our rescue.

I may well now disappoint you as we only went for a brisk walk and indulged in yet more Lego, story inventing, maths, spelling etc,etc etc - however I did manage to maintain my current level of sanity.

However, we will be going over to Winchester, having looked at their Website, even if just we 2 old dinasaurs (slip of tongue - they may keep us there, for experimental purposes!)

Thank you all,

Lizzy

PS Just remembered some tricky Maths will follow now, should phone the grand daughter, but too late. Hope I get it right!

What I forgat to mention is that my daughter emigrated to Australia 3 years ago, we've been over once, so only the second time in 3 years that I have seen my grandchildren in the flesh, as it were. Of course we use Skype and everything I can keep up with, but there's nothing like the real thing is there?

So, thanks again.

Editor - I think I've got the same sum - how's my maths meant to improve?
