New flats in Haslemere Road
- Frank (14th Apr 2007 - 12:11:03)
Anyone know what is (not) happenening on the site opposite Chiltley Manor? The original bungalow disappeared and work started with almost indecent haste and now there seems to have been no activity for several weeks. Just curious.

See planning applications link:
EHDC/planning....
Looks as though they were refused planning permission.

What does these mean now, then?
They have to re-apply with changed plans?
Will they have to take down what they have already started to build?

Building work was clearly continuing well beyond the August refusal of the planning application. Unbelievable

If you look a little deeper I think you will find that planning permission was granted on appeal after some amendments. If you want to know why work has stopped, you may have to look elsewhere.
EHDC/plannning... [warning - large file]

Mike,
The latest date on your link is 25/1/2006. The appeal comments due date is 12/12/2006 on my link. There doesn't appear to be any documents after this date.

Good spot. It looks like the permission (for six flats) predates the refusal (for seven). I assume, then, that the original permission remains valid.

I have it on good authority that the developers are intending to carry on sometime early next year. Currently they are on an extended break ( holiday !) and have other things on the go. ( alright for some ).

Thanks Bryan. So we are left with an abandoned building site with practically no security (the wire gate was practically in the road a few days ago), next to an area notorious for "trouble" and summer is coming. Oh joy....

hi i was told in the links 2 ngt that the building work has stop because the owners are involved in the local football club and that their teams r in for promotions. I hope that the job gets done soon or that the building site will be covered in the st georges flags again and not the italian flag.

Thats probably because they were originally from Italy.

It was a shame that they did not get the 7th flat,as they are not like J Sainsbury coming here and throwing their weight around. They support local things like the football club etc do Sainsbury's support local things they say they do but you only have to look at the village shops in Station Rd sommerfields liphook homewares and now the jet station do I need to say any more. Some times I wonder where the powers to be come from-=-=-=-. Has any one looked at the flats at White Hart Mews there is more room in a rabbit hutch and now some 10 flats at the jet station, will our schools and dr's take more peaple?

Lee,
No the Schools and essential services will not cope with the increased housing. Unfortunately, Liphook people will have to get used to more and more housing. Have you noticed, since the approval of the A3 Tunnel, developers are in abundance, and more Brown Fields are up for future development i.e. behind the Avenue and as you come into Liphook on the Headly Road, Silent Garden down by the new Church Centre and of course any existing large plot are just ripe for building. there is also an increase in garden grabbing, something the Gov. are keen on. Liphook in the future will not be as today. We all moan about Sainsburys - but in the near future it wont be enough either, so be aware of another extension - or the most sensible thing to do now they are the only food Supermarket is to stock only FOOD!!

Add these to the new proposals opposite the entrance of Bohunt School.
I think that is for 14!
We should ask for a combined National Health Doctors and Dentists on the OSU site. It could be a massive mutistory complex - big enough to serve the tsunami wave of newcomers to the area as well as established residents!
