Road Repairs in Liphook
- Richard (17th Sep 2012 - 21:40:56)

I do seem to recall that the County Council's contractors were going to come back to Liphook to redo the botch job they had hitherto undertaken. I seem to recall our local councillor was engaged, and the residents of Liphook were promised repairs in September. We are now more than halfway through September. Would out concillor care to comment please? Or have ratepayers and voters been misled and lied to? (And I am aware that this could be interpreted as inflamatory, but public bodies saying one thing and then doing another is tiresome, and why, as the end customer should we put up with it? After all we paid for this work out of rates and taxation!)

Despite the holes and slippery surfaces in many places on the roads through Liphook the white lines have been re-done so I assume no more remedial work is planned. Apart from being dangerous as it is, it should be great fun with a topping of ice. I wonder what state the roads will be in by the spring following a winter of freeze/thaw action on the above mentioned holes?

Some of the pot holes are horrendous. I came off my bike the other day after hitting one, I couldn't go around it because of the cars overtaking me on a bend.
Smashed my iphone!

Susie, please try and claim the cost of repairs from the council. There is an over whelming body of evidence that the council should have been aware of the issue. I know I reported in on FixMyStreet, and our local councillor is aware.

Everybody knows that the council lies!

They just hope that everyone will will give up and shut up.

Try this: Go to the EHDC website and in the alphabetical listing of services, click H. Select Highways Maintenance. This takes you to a place where you can report pot holes, uneven road surfaces etc. You can leave comments (briefly) as to nature of problem but I find it helpful to let the council know what we think as well.

Might just be a rumour, but have heard that once the council are aware of a problem like a pothole, they have to repair it or anything that happens as a result is their liability.
