Running the London Marathon for Brain Tumour UK
- Jodie Tiller (4th Apr 2007 - 20:53:07)
I am running the London Marathon on April 22nd with my sister and her best friend for Brain Tumour UK, in memory of our dad who died suddenly from a brain tumour in June 2005.
This year is Brain Tumour UK\'s 10th Anniversary and we hope by donating to this very worthwhile charity we can help those suffering and their families and try to find a cure to this terrible disease.
Every single donation, however large or small, will be greatly appreciated and provide us with that final push as we approach the Big day - and hopefully through those last few miles once we\'ve hit the Wall!
If you would like to sponsor us, please see our justgiving web page where donating is fast, simple and safe:
Justgiving
Once again, any sponsorship will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much

I saw in the news today that many, many people running the Marathon ended up in hospital because of the heat and one person has actually died!!!
I hope you and anybody else from Liphook are OK :)

Hi there,
Yes, it was very hot.
The sequence of events didn't quite pan out as expected. I did not anticipate running the first 13 miles ok and then becoming ill, no less than 11 times I might add, seeking medical advice from the lovely St John's Ambulance crews on three occasions in that heat and being told to stop if I became confused!
But people keep telling me it is the finishing that counts! I might be able to believe that one day.
As someone kindly pointed out, you could have flown to the US in the time it took me to finish the marathon. Next time I'll try not to take that long!!
Thank you to all of you who kindly sponsored us, we are extremely grateful.
My admiration goes out to all those running in those ridiculously large fancy dress costumes, madness! Don't know how they did it!

Jodie
Congratulations to you. Very surprised you mentioned 'the next time', after such an experience. Just goes to show what people will endure for a good cause!!.
