Parvo virus Posters around the village?
- Geoff (13th Sep 2012 - 10:14:37)
Hi there
have anyone else noticed the posters, around the village stating, that the Parvo virus, is within our vicinity, and that a puppy has died, from the virus??
i myself have a 14 week old puppy, fully vacinated, and am a bit worried about this, does anyone know, the breed of the pup that died??....i bought my pup, from within the village, and im wondering if this could have been passed on through the litter?
please make sure your dogs & pups are up to date, with their vacinines!

Canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV2, colloquially parvo) is a contagious virus mainly affecting dogs. The disease is highly contagious and is spread from dog to dog by direct or indirect contact with their feces. It can be especially severe in puppies that are not protected by maternal antibodies or vaccination. It has two distinct presentations, a cardiac and intestinal form. The common signs of the intestinal form are severe vomiting and dysentery. The cardiac form causes respiratory or cardiovascular failure in young puppies. Treatment often involves veterinary hospitalization. Vaccines can prevent this infection, but mortality can reach 91% in untreated cases. Canine parvovirus will not infect humans. |

Have not seen above posters but i have seen threatening worded posters that i can only presume have been put in response to the posters you mention.
Absolutely disgusting expecially as they have been seen and read by children.

I will arrange to have all posters removed as these have not been sanctioned by the Parish Office. It would seem acceptable to post missing dog/cat posters for a while but not posters to scare people.

May I suggest that if anyone is worried about parvo they go into the Headley Road vets and ask their advice. They will know if there is a higher incidence in the area at the moment.
