SWEET PEAS - LAMBING
- Lisa Menzies (22nd Feb 2007 - 14:14:29)

PS Would anyone like to lend a hand with lambing (unofficial work experience) as we are expecting 70ish lambs and at the same time tending 1,400 sweet pea plants - should be a fair challenge!? Lambing starts on the 1st of April (no - not an April fool, just the way the ram organised his family planning) and goes on for 4 weeks.

This is an addition to my earlier letter - On a more serious note - Please do not respond if you are pregnant or possibly could be, due to the risk of Enzootic Abortion and Toxoplasmosis. These are both infectious conditions that can be passed from sheep to humans and present a serious risk to pregnant women.

I would love to help where are you...and what hours are u thinking of

Wow Ellen! Wasn't holding out much hope that anyone would answer! Any hours - lots or just a few - any time - anything will help. Its hard and grubby work but very rewarding, except I'm afraid, in the financial department. There are inevitably several lambs to rear by hand, but this is one of the very best and most satisfying jobs! If you are interested, please ask Ed to pass on my email address and contact me there. Failing that we are at Oaklea Farm in Bramshott - just pop in sometime - Thanks!

I would love it too. What do you think the minimum age would be - I think it would be a wonderful experience for my boys
ages: 10; 14;15

Hello Dawn! If you ask Ed to pass on my email address we could discuss - there are health issues for children but I can explain.
