Language Tutor
- purplecurly (9th Feb 2007 - 17:55:52)

Can anyone recommend a German or Spanish language tutor?

I have been trying to get a recommendation from Bohunt but no luck so far….. This is for my children not me so would have to be after school or weekend.

I'm assuming your young adult(s) go to the Bohunt, otherwise you would not be outside it nearly flattening other young adults.

I understood Bohunt to be a specialist language school so I am a little concerned

a) why you might need tutors in the first place and
b) why Bohunt cannot help find them

LOL

Yes, it is a bit of a concern to me too!

We are in a guinea-pig year. They all have to take their GCSE’s early to enable them to squeeze another one in as well.

The problem with the system is they can’t choose which language and one has to do German which he hates!!

The other one doesn’t have so much of a problem as he is not in the year and will not have to do it until later even though he is older.

But as I’m a fair Mum, if one’s got extra work………seems only right that they should both do it.

Have you tried asking the teacher for more help - seems strange that your son is taking a GCSE and you feel he needs a tutor - although from what I gather extra Tuition is almost the norm to get a decent grade these days.

There is an advert on the school notice board, for a Spanish tutor - 727817

Last year my daughter took her Spanish GCSE a year early, and found it has left her time to concentrate on her second language this year; as with all things I think it depends on the child.

Thank you for the number of the Spanish tutor.

Yes, I agree with your point about it being a matter of the child’s ability or predisposition to accept new languages.

Unfortunately the children are not given a choice and out of the many languages my son would have been very enthusiastic about he was designated the one which he has already said he hated and didn’t want to do. This makes it very difficult for us to encourage him as he is completely unenthusiastic about the whole thing as he feels no one is listening to him!

My other son who is doing Spanish is in a better position in that he actually wants to learn it but just finds it tricky.

So if any one can recommend a german tutor I would be very grateful.

HI
If you ever find a German language tutor, could you please let me know too? My partner travels to Germany a great deal and would like to keep up his language skills - he would prefer a native speaker or at least one with the right amout of experience.
I know that the Rolls Royce team are living and working nearby - does anyone know of someone who is willing to help?
Best
Sumi

Hi Sumi,

The world is moving too fast. Recently I found a translating machine which can talk in 22 different languages of the world. Of course there are stored msges which can be translated but the store is too big for effective communication. Why not to ask your partner to buy such a machine? It is very effective. I will let you know the name of the company who distributes this machine in this country.
