Manure

Does anyone know if anyone local is selling manure for garden use please.

Fay -

There used to be a stable over at Whitehill that gives it away. You just need to take some bags and a garden fork, to bring it home.

Can't remember name of road but if you take the Hollywater Road from Passfield to Whitehill, go across the roundabout and then I think it's the first left and you'll see the stables and a sign up. There's a newsagents/general store on the corner of the road.

I'd avoid Saturday morning - it always used to be quite busy then.

Good luck.

I always buy mine at the garden centre in Rake....obviously not free but at least it's bagged up and not too pongy!!

Hi, Eneida -

"Not too pongy"? That's half the fun of using manure!!

I used it particularly in my vegetable beds and it worked a treat. Brilliant carrots, shallots and lettuces ;-))

Thanks Freddie, I will pop over there and have a look but not on a Saturnday morning!

Only half the fun? What's the other half?

By the way, you did not mention turnips - or was this a cunning plan?

Hi, Mike -

Let's not even go there.

We've buried Sven and it looks as if McClaren (is it only me, or does he look like a celeriac?) will have the same fate - only sooner.

Bring back Terry V!

Hi Freddie,

I'm a bit confused by your last post.....are you talking about varieties of vegetables ??? ;)

Hi, Eneida -

Well Graham Taylor was pictured as a turnip.

One of the Sun's finest back pages ;-)

Snow and frost have put paid to early-flowering camelias!

Hi Freddie,

Actually Graham Taylor is one of David's heroes (because he's a Watford man) so he probably didn't find that picture funny!!! :D :D

Yes, poor old camelias....looking very soggy and sad now...but it's the birds I'm concerned about....there's definitely been some nest building going on and if there are eggs I supposed they will be killed by now?
