Liphook average age to increase substantially!
- Rhys G (1st Feb 2007 - 19:34:25)

Is it just me or are there several new developments of retirement villages planned. Every time I buy the local paper more and more seem to be crawling from the wood work.

So far I know of:

1) Planning permission granted for the retirement village on the King George Site, near Radford Park. Clearing started several weeks back.

2) New planning permission submitted to build a retirement village opposite the pet shop on the former OSU site.

3) Retirement flats proposed to be built down Tower road after the demolition of 2 homes

I just hope the developers are contributing towards the community and helping to improve services, because at present doctors, fire and police services must be severely stretched, even without these developments. Is there really that much of a demand for retirement homes in the village?!?

there is at present a planning application in for a retirement/nursing home on the old osu site there is time to let the local planners know your opinion the osu site has not been designated for housing but for commercial use and obviously the owner is hoping to make an enormous profit by this change of use as there is a big difference in the value of the land if it is desiganted for housing, as opposed to a commercial site. It is in the local paper at the moment under planning applications. You can post your opinion on line to EHDC
