Burning plastic waste at the Links Hotel
- lisa (28th Jan 2007 - 20:04:27)
Has anyone else noticed that the Links Hotel have for many years been burning plastic waste in the garden area adjacent to their carpark. We called in last Thursday for lunch and I could see heavyduty plastic crates, the type used for meat and fish deliveries as well as polystyrene packaging, blazing away. I have on many occasions in the past, seen piles of plastic rubbish and I am talking about a skipful or more, either stacked up ready to burn or the gooey mess resultant of having been burned, on the ground. It is difficult to imagine why they are doing this. Have'nt they heard of TOXIC FUMES, DIOXINS, GREENHOUSE GASES AND GLOBAL WARMING! Could it be that this is a practice to save some paltry sum on proper waste disposal? Surely this practice is not permissable?
