Hill House Hill
- Chris Taylor (19th Nov 2003 - 16:22:45)

We were recently asked to clear our part of Hill house Hill of overhanging branches, which we have
duely done. However, who in EHDC is responsible for the upkeep of the Hill House Hill pavement itself?
The section between Conford House drive and
the first houses on Hill House Hill is a danger
to pedestrians because half of it is overgrown and covered in earth. Are there any plans to make this section safer and more pedestrian friendly?

Also, are there any plans to check driving speeds along Hill House Hill? Road users regularly travel at well above the 40mph limit and regularly overtake those who are commited to keeping to a safe speed. Can the stretch of road with dwellings be made a "no overtaking" zone?

Chris -

I'm one of the local Parish Councillors and I'll raise the pavement issue tomorrow for you. Anything like this in the future, you can just call the Parish Office - 01428 722988 or send them an e-mail: blpc@zoom.co.uk.

The PO always know the right person and department, so they can get responses quickly.

If you don't hear anything within a day or two, give me a call on 07769 665 963.

On speed/restrictions, best to speak with Ann Haussauer at the Parish Office. Ann has regular contact with local traffic police and the Hampshire County Council Highways Dept. Keep a log of any incidents. That helps to get action.

Freddie,

Have e mailed our thanks to the parish council for organising the clearing of the pavement. A job well done!

I'm sure that a small ripple of thanks is due to Steve Read's silent majority who must have secretly wished this to happen. Well done!

Living in Dryden Way the problems highlighted by Chris Taylor have been with us at the bottom of Hill House Hill for many years now. Yes we have complained on block to the Police, EHDC Highways & Byways, have had surveys done, meetings on site all with no action taken other than a token gesture of a man on site for a morning with a strimmer.
Accidents occur at regular intervals, visability is poor in all directions. So in response to Mr.Grimmes constructive comments maybe the only alternative is to wish or will things to happen this end of the village.

"Yes we have complained on block (sic) to the Police, EHDC Highways & Byways, have had surveys done, meetings on site."

I am really confused as to how all the above has been achieved by the silent majority, I'm beginning to think they are masquerading as something else.
