Highways Strike Again!! - ck (3rd Sep 2012 - 11:35:36)
How great to see that the Highways Agency have waited until the week the schools go back and everyone is back to work to dig up the roundabout in the square!
I am well aware the works are essential etc, but did they really need to be started the first week of September???
To do my usual run to Sainsburys for the weekly shop usually takes an hour including travelling, today this has taken over 2!!
The pupils of Bohunt School did not actually go back until today, Tuesday 4 September and the work in The Square was completed yesterday. No traffic lights were erected until after 9 am to allow people to go to work and not everyone takes their holidays in the school holidays. We are quick to complain when repairs do not take place so please do not complain when they do.
Had notice been given in advance we would have been able to plan alternative routes, I too sufferd grid lock; to just turn up and set up 4 way traffic lights is not acceptable.
Although Bohunt officially opened on last Friday, Monday was an Inset Day and the school was closed to pupils which is probably why Highways chose this day. If one has an alternative route to driving through Liphook I cannot imagine why anyone would want to drive through Liphook as a preferred choice of route as it is always busy. I was in Liphook at lunchtime on Monday Liphook was not gridlocked. It took five minutes for me to drive through. I have been in a gridlock for over 2 hours - that really is a gridlock. Some people just moan about everything and never see the "plus side". .
Monday was a normal school day at Bohunt. It was my birthday and my son missed lunch in the park (where we managed to stand in two sets of dog poo) because he was at school. But that is due to my planning and ordering of sunshine, although other guests were an hour late due to the traffic lights.
Liphook Juniors and Infants went back today and the playground looks amazing. The kids were so excited.
