8Mb Broadband - Ben Lawrance (12th Jan 2007 - 18:44:12) Hi All, I have just been told that the Liphook telephone exchange is due for upgrade to be able to provide 8Mb Broadband. However, this upgrade will be within the next 18 months. Therefore, does that mean that users of 8Mb Broadband in Liphook are only getting the same service as those of us using 2Mb (and probably paying more for it??) Does anyone reading this have 8Mb Broadband?

Re: 8Mb Broadband - Editor (12th Jan 2007 - 18:54:20) Hi Ben Liphook has had 8Mb broadband for ages. Many of our customers are enjoying speeds upto 8Mbs in the village. See www.fast.co.uk to see what speed you could get. Remember the speed is dependent on your distance from the exchange. Alan

Re: 8Mb Broadband - gpr (15th Jan 2007 - 20:04:34) I live about 50 ft away from the exchange and broadband signal is about 6.5mbs but this is on old Wiring and extesion cables . Service provided by Fast always helpful and local .

Re: 8Mb Broadband - Editor (15th Jan 2007 - 21:06:55) Hi Rob Your can check your 'real' download speed by using our test at www.fast.co.uk/speedtest This result is not exactly the same as your 'connection' speed which can seen by either hovering over the modem icon on the bottom right of your PC screen or from the control panel of your router (if you are using one). The 'connection' speed will always be greater than the download speed. Alan
